I trimmed my friends list a bit. Nothing personal; I'm going to try and use my LJ differently than I have in the past and part of that is posting to a slightly smaller bunch of people--pretty much folks I know in RL and see on a fairly regular basis.
{edited to add: I think Bronxelf did a better job of explaining than I did.}

In so very many areas of my life, things need to be purged. It's just one of those times, in the physical, non physical and virtual parts of my life.
That being said, I'll be doing a fairly significant friends cut. Normally this is where people go on about how it's not personal, etc. In the negative sense, this is true. I don't think there's anyone on my flist I dislike in any way. However, as time has gone on, my default view has become smaller and smaller. Not because people are "bad people" (generally, I'm considered to be the "bad person" in any given equation) but because their lives and mine have either drifted very far apart (in the case of people I know personally) or the things that they post about aren't things I can relate to (for example, if the vast majority of your posts are about any kind of fandom. I think it's awesome that you have a hobby, but IDGI, and my _serious_ disinterest in tv and movies makes it hard to relate.) Some people post almost exclusively about about their kids, or about politics, to the exclusion of all else. Some people post about geeky pursuits or *endless* DOOMDOOMDOOMCONSPIRACYTHEORYNEWWORLDORDERDOOM.
And while I think anyone should post about anything they damned well please in their LJ, if I've gotten to a point where I just can't relate... I need to let it go. I need to let a LOT of things go in my life right now and make it much more streamlined. I can't prevent people from taking it personally, but there really isn't anyone that I'm dropping that I *dislike*. I just need to move on, is all. I'm feeling very cramped, cluttered, crowded and overwhelmed these days. I need more space.
Thanks.
