Writer's Block: The Greenest Grass

Ya know, I was gonna say something egalitarian. Sure women have harder, less rewarding work, in general. Sure there are issues with fertility and body image and the historic subjugation of women. There's rape and religion and money and babies and nasty images of women in magazines and evil uteruses and evil mothers in law, but there are good things about being a woman, too.
And then I was gonna talk about men having stricter roles in society, not being able to 'choose' between family and work without some social stigma attached, how it's harder for men (and boys) who are victims of domestic & sexual violence to speak up and get help, how it's harder for men and boys to learn socially-acceptable & appropriate ways to be affectionate and nurturing...
Then I found this
Fuck you, males of the species.
I'm going to my woman-cave to eat chocolate and throw hissy-fits. Piss off.

Date: 2009-04-17 08:21 pm (UTC)Menstrual cycle, stigma over sleeping around (not applied to guys... guys are studs, women are whores), not considered spiritually equal in most religions, paid less, etc. I mean.. there are some physical limitations and limitations put on by society. Life just seems more complicated IMHO.
It's when you can still make a living for yourself and make yourself equal to a guy that you have earned the proud title of...
cold-hearted bitch. *sigh*

Date: 2009-04-17 09:32 pm (UTC)If you're a man and your wife screams at you and slaps you around, you're pussy-whipped and you can't keep your woman under control.
If you're a 13 year old boy and a female teacher or babysistter twice your age has sex with you, you're a 'lucky little stud' and not a victim of rape.
If you're a man and you're unemployed while your wife is working, you're a pussy who can't take care of his family.
of course, if you're a fat man, you're not automatically smelly, dirty, lazy, ugly, and presumed to 'have no willpower'
And there's that whole 30 cent pay cut you get just for having a vagina.
So...no, it's not right or fair the way men or women get treated in this world.
I don't know who can fix it, or how. Definitely more complicated than most people's answers seem to indicate.
