Actually, I was kinda mad when STIXS opened near campus, because that was TOTALLY my idea first, when we did "Feast on a Stick" for Coronation & Goofy's knighting. Bitches stealin my ideas.
But then I see that they seem to be out of business, so...it was either karma for them stealing my idea, or it wasn't a great idea to start with.
Another idea I like, but it's already been done, is "Rivendell" in San Marcos--food with a LOTR slant (I never went, and it's closed now, too. poop. )
I also enjoyed Ararat & Cleopatra's (Middle Eastern food with lush harem-like atmosphere, bellydancers, and water pipes available in the smoking areas outside), which are ALSO closed, but at least gave me inspiration for my Tent Room.
I guess I'm not all that great at coming up with original ideas; but I'm VERY good at executing them, especially given an extravagant enough budget :P

Date: 2008-07-10 03:43 pm (UTC)Personally, my crazy idea is the "Weird But Tasty", where lots of odd dishes are prepared on a rotating basis. There would be new stuff every week to try, and the best liked ones would go on the menu as regular items. Also I want to set up a computerized ordering system with options for ingredient elimination and substitution to handle vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetics, and allergies. That would also include some data in the system to alter cooking times, portions, prices, and other ingredients to account for the variations of altered ingredients. Things like changing the cooking time when using a gluten-free rice noodle instead of regular wheat-based noodles.

Date: 2008-07-10 03:46 pm (UTC)Business is business and all's fair in love and war and what-have-you, but I'm not entirely comfortable patronizing a place that seems to have gotten into business by screwing another business owner I like and respect.
And then again, I don't know the whole story or who was screwing whom, so maybe I'm cheering for the wrong dog in this particular race.
I don't know. It makes me uncomfortable.
