Why is it so impossible to have a rational conversation with the narcissist I had a personal relationship with?

You cannot have a rational conversation with a person who is not rational. Never, ever, never. Narcissists may be physically and intellectually adults, but their emotional state will always be that of a toddler. They are not able to self-reflect or self-regulate enough to discuss crucial relationship ideas that are essential to having a healthy, mutually-respectful adult relationship of any kind.
