So, check this. I had no idea there was a demand for such a
thing, but apparently, I was wrong.
Caffeinated beer. Budweiser makes it. I espied a billboard
advertising it on my way to work this
morning.
How was your weekend? Ours was good. We had absolutely amazing
weather. It was like summer -
bright sun, blue skies, hovering around 75 degrees. We took
Pepper to the park both days - after we
wore her out with the Chuck-it, we played frisbee, and I got
the brilliant idea to give away frisbees as
our wedding favors. :)
Sunday, we went to a concert of Bach Concertos by our favorite
chamber music group. It was
excellent. We took Shane's parents, and they enjoyed it, too.
It was a really nice evening.
My morning is quiet so far, but it could shake up any minute now.
I really was dreading coming in,
but, hopefully the you-know-what storm won't hit until after my
coffee has kicked in (if there's so
much extra caffeine hanging around that they are putting it in
beer, they really ought to come
around and pump up the work coffee!).
Oh, you want to hear something scary? My mom sent me an email this
morning - some stuff about plans
for my birthday and then "we'll have to arrange a time to deliver
and assemble your birthday
present." Assemble. I can't even imagine what it might be. A
gun rack? One of those giant dinosaur models?
Ahwell. I guess I will find out.

Hey, babe :)
I *adore* your wedding favor idea :) That is beyond cute!! I talked
to her on the phone yesterday, and
[sister H] finds it terribly amusing that everyone is making plans for
your wedding already.
I took a sick day yesterday. Mom escaped from SA for a couple of
days, so I spent the day with her and
Aunt L. Her illusions re: [brother A] & rubber_pig are gone, she now realizes
what a useless piece of garbage rubber_pig is,
and will not be putting her life on hold to fetch, carry, and
come a'runnin' every time [brother A] and rubber_pig have
Drama. stepdad/G will be down during DePauw's spring break, checking in
with his mom (& maybe picking up sineater!!) and she will ride back to
Greencastle with stepdad/G. She is thinking of working at a regular
school for a
while. She still hopes that when rubber_pig kicks [brother A] to the curb for
her next baby-making partner, that "we"
will get the baby. I think she is realistic enough to realize that
it won't happen.
Caffeinated beer. bleh!! I had a caffeinated wine cooler thing in a
can (like Red Bull but wine) at
Central Market the other day, it was pretty nasty. WTH is wrong
with people? Pick one chemical and stick
with it, don't be trying to stimulate and depress at the same time!
I'm terribly curious about your bday present... assembly, eh?
Hmmmmmm.
Last night was girls night out at the Melting Pot. We had an
excellent time! I ate WAY too much. But it
was awesome. Our waiter was adorable (and he left half the stuff
we ordered off the bill!) He didn't know the
thing about if you lose your food in the pot, you have to kiss the
person next to you. I think he was quite
entranced by a table full of women kissing each other at odd
moments. We talked about maybe doing a fondue party amongst
ourselves at someone's house some time. That would be cool.
Hope your Tuesday is going well. :)

It's brilliant and it is so "us," since we play Frisbee all the
time. Since we have the basics
down, the new thing is for us to improve our technique. :) Also,
if we have an outdoor wedding
in an appropriate space, everyone can go play Frisbee after we've
gotten hammered. ;)
I am glad you got to hang out with your mom and L. While your
mom is probably saddened by it
all, it is a relief that she's no longer going gaga over rubber_pig and
her sprog. It would be cool if sineater
went back to Indiana with stepdad/G!!!
I love your fondue story - that's very cute!! I am thinking I need
to get a fondue pot. Someone has
some extremely snazzy/fashionably rustic-looking ones from Le
Creuset. Maybe it is Sur la Table....
I found out what the prezzie is - I figured that, if they had plans
re: furniture, I ought to know about
it so I could move stuff and/or clean wherever it is going to be.
Good thing I asked, too - it's a
dining room table and chairs (!) and I need to mop! Shane and I
are both thrilled about it, because he
doesn't have a dining room set, either; we would have had to buy
one for our new place.
Mom and Rick went in together - braved the terrifying vastness of
IKEA and everything!
Tuesday is ok so far. Yesterday kind of sucked toward the end, but
the important thing is, the work
day ended. :) It occurred to me over the weekend that, this time
last year, I was working my ass off
on that trial.
So, even when things are getting crazy, I am grateful for normal
working hours.
Hope you have a good day! I am sending Vegas pix off to you. I
took way more pix that this but,
unfo, the other roll (the one in the little camera) was damaged and
nothing came out. :( All the good
ones, though, were in my other camera anyway.
HUGS!

me to J-law:
Wow, what a great b-day present :) I know Rick will have fun putting
it together!
BTW, I quoted Rick at a pretentious hipster coffeehouse this past
Saturday evening and this aging hipster slacker dude that was totally
not even in our group wrote down the quote. it was *hilarious*--it
was "Cry me a river, I'll crap you a bridge"--I made sure he
attributed the quote. If you're going to eavesdrop and make comments
and write our stuff down, by damn, you'd better get it right.
Sweetie & I have 3 fondue pots, all picked up at various garage sales &
thrift stores. They are (charmingly?) mismatched & beat up. One
doesn't have its lid. I like 'em. Maybe for the full moon backyard
fire this month I'll have a few pots of fondue going off to the side.
hmm...
I wish Mom didn't have such hopes of keeping up a relationship with
the baby after rubber_pig completes her "mate and kill" cycle, but I know
we'll just deal with whatever happens and it'll all work out fine.
I bought a St. Alex/Santo Alejo candle at the grocery store on
Saturday & started burning it. The prayer on the candle says
something about "protect me from liars and witches" and then when I
looked up St. Alex online, it said St. Alex candles are used to
protect against Satan's minions and also lit to bring home family
members who are far away. The very next day Mom showed up at L's
doorstep to get some sane-time away from the drama in San
Antonio...and apparently sineater also called stepdad/G to talk about leaving
skye_ds. So...Go St. Alex!
