Jan. 23, 2004
evile: TGIF :P
SkyeDS: lol I guess, although it feels like I have to work the whole
weekend long so what difference does it make <sigh>
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: supposed to be not just rainy but stormy tomorrow.
evile: icks. Nevermind about Barad Duin, then. I'll do something
indoors & dry.
SkyeDS: think what would like more than anything else is a trip to
souper salads and then to curl up at home - my neck is still killing
me, despite the ergonomic adjustments and the neck pillow
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: wonder how much of it is stress now
SkyeDS: when weather is bad/rainy/cold I always crave soup and/or
chili/cheese baked potato and hot bread
evile: Between the 3 of 'em, you ought to have at least one man who
can give a decent back/neck rub.
SkyeDS: they are all three good with the hands :)
SkyeDS: and have told the baby he might consider massage school, they
make good money
evile: So there's no reason for you to put up with being in pain. Put
those lazy boys to work!
SkyeDS: one of the longest tenured and most prestigious of TCC's
professors quit teaching and went to massage school because she could
make more money that way (go fig)
SkyeDS: problem is, I can't have them here, where they'd do the most
good during the work day.
evile: Theoretically, the pay is good. I know several massage
therapists who find the reality not quite as sparkly.
SkyeDS: well, much like my reading business, I never was a Kramer
Wentzel.
SkyeDS: because I didn't care to put that much effort into
acquisition of clients, etc
evile: *nods* exactly.
SkyeDS: was easier to work for Miss Cleo and let them worry about
that.
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: sonar0m is much more outgoing than I am, so he might not have
the problem/laziness in building clientele that kept me from being
a "Kramer"
evile: That's a plus.
SkyeDS: we're moving across the street next Thursday, and I have to
box up stuff by myself, with the badly injured thumb - not fun. I
love moving - have always hated packing and unpacking <sigh>
evile: Yucko. Hopefully it'll be worth the hassle. Nicer digs, or
bigger, or something.
SkyeDS: it should mean getting my own phone and email hopefully
evile: That's a bonus.
SkyeDS: decided to start running yahoo launchcast radio while I pack,
so that's cool.
evile: launchcast has saved my sanity.
evile: I went ahead and got the pay version, but I dont' think I'll
renew (if it gives me a choice & doesn't just automatically bill. I
dislike Yahoo Wallet)
SkyeDS: nods
evile: They may improve, but there's just too many screwups &
wierdness to make it worth $.
evile: here's my station: http://launch.yahoo.com/lc/?
rt=0&rp1=0&rp2=1244062254
SkyeDS: I've been listening to At Work: Soft Rock so far
SkyeDS: but lots of stations to go exploring
SkyeDS: and haven't done the customization thing yet
evile: Yup. The pay thing doesn't add that many. 80's alternative is
my fave of the 'pluses'
SkyeDS: this is easier than trying to locate a clock radio to buy
SkyeDS: I have portable stuff but it all has tape recorders and those
are no nos here
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: and one of the secretaries was listening to her radio
yesterday, and I caught strains of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me"
evile: I like shoutcast, but it requires downloading stuff. launchast
doesn't download. As far as I know, anyway.
SkyeDS: so I'm like, ok, go buy clock radio, or run launchcast. hm.
and you know what lazy Gem is going to do.
evile: yup.
evile: Beats hauling tapes back & forth.
evile: I've discovered a couple of new bands/artists this way, so
that's kinda cool.
SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: Worth putting up with the trainwrecks. I have favorites that
are pretty broad across the spectrum, but not necessarily anything I
want to hear back to back. (Ella Fitzgerald & Sex Pistols for example)
SkyeDS: lol
evile: It's getting better.
evile: My station is about 90% 80's music, and the rest is a total
crap shoot, from show tunes to big band to comedy routines.
SkyeDS: I like their groupings well enough that I havne't customized
yet
evile: yeah. Me too, usually.
SkyeDS: my tastes are so varied, i hadn't even thought about what you
aptly observed
SkyeDS: they might mix and match inappropriately
SkyeDS: so maybe I had just better pick stations by mood
evile: yeah. :)
evile: The surprises on my station are occasinally pleasant, but
usually they're jarring.
SkyeDS: nodnods
evile: the only plus to doing your own station is that the "do not
play this again" only works on your station. If something you've
rated as "do not play" comes up in one of the other stations, it
plays anyway. you can skip, but unless you're a pay customer, you
only get so many 'skips' and once you're out you have to tolerate
whatever they dish out :P
SkyeDS: that's fine. I have a mute button and I'm not afraid to use
it.
evile: That or reload the station.
SkyeDS: it crashes every so often anyway so I have to reload off and
on
evile: yeah...it does that to me, too. Which is one of the *many*
reasons it's not worth paying for :P
SkyeDS: they seem to have neat pay stations and no commercials and
all that, but I'm perfectly happy so far with the freebies
SkyeDS: beats nothing, which is what i had before
evile: yup :) I get the occasional impulse buy craze, but hopefully
I've learned my lesson on this one.
evile: I guess I'll go to the library & maybe mall-rat tomorrow. That
should minimize outdoor contact :)
SkyeDS: I will still run by the park I guess, if nothing else than to
make the suggestion that i"m going to souper salads, and why couldn't
we have court there.
SkyeDS: I know Jorgen wants to have dancing at his house after court,
but I'm sorry, I'm not going to court in the rain, and I'm not making
efforts to go to dancing if I don't go to court
evile: that's understandable.
evile: I don't dance.
evile: PNO 'Classic' is tonight at Dog & Duck. Dont' know if I'll
make it, I have plans with aunt L after work.
SkyeDS: I leave here at 5:30, drop paperwork off at Phyl's and then
head downtown to do a couple of hours for Hugh
evile: fun.
SkyeDS: then I have to go all the way home, and get up early enough
to make 620/2222 by 9 am Sat morning
evile: yow.
SkyeDS: I'm thinking bout seeing if I can find something closer, much
as I like Carino's
evile: yeah. But when you live an hour out of Austin, I'd pretty much
figure any spot as out of the way as the next.
SkyeDS: well 620/2222 is further away than anywhere more central
Austin
evile: Is it only offered at that Carino's location? I think there's
one near Highland mall, then we could mallrat afterwards, if you
wanted :)
SkyeDS: that's the only JC I saw on the DD list yes
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: I have to go back and call up the list again
SkyeDS: and it may be too late today to get in anywhere else tomorrow
but i'm still going to try
evile: If not, you've got your original reservation as backup.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: I should probably take Defensive Driving sometime, if only to
cut down on Sweetie's insurance after I turn in my leaser.
evile: Dreading all the screwing that turning in the subaru will
doubtless entail.
SkyeDS: wonder if i couldn't lease a used Prius as opposed to a new
one.
SkyeDS: surely leasing an already leased vehicle should be cheaper
than leasing a new one?
evile: I'm sure.
evile: Nowhere in the fine print was I informed that I'd be paying
part of the sales tax every January. That's been fun.
evile: And their idea of 'normal wear and tear' is laughable, so I'm
sure I'm going to pay out the wazoo for 'repairs' beyond 'normal wear
and tear'. And so on and so forth. Most of the deal hasn't been too
hassle-y, but the hassles have been real doozies.
SkyeDS: they didn't put it in writing but think they can enforce it?
evile: It's possible it's in the fine print, pre-printed in light ink
on the back of the agreement or something shitty like that.
evile: Sales people are NOT US. They are cleverly disguised reptiles,
and nobody should ever forget it. But then again, one shouldn't be
surprised or offended when reptiles do what reptiles do.
evile: And of course my original lease company is out of business,
even though the bank they worked the lease through still bills me
regularly, so I had nobody to call when these surprise charges came
up.
SkyeDS: yuck :(
evile: Apple Leasing had an extra $50/month more than the lease I
got, and I went for the lower price, but I'm wondering if that
50/month covered the giant wammy sales tax thing. things to know/ask
about for next time, I guess.
SkyeDS: nods
evile: If there is a next time, which won't be for at least the rest
of 2004.
SkyeDS: and useful for me to learn from, if I decide to lease
something in future
SkyeDS: ad I really do want to get a little fuel efficient hybrid,
one way or another, used, leased, whatever
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: did you do a personal lease, a business lease or how?
evile: personal.
SkyeDS: I just want a hybrid for commute and nothing else
SkyeDS: but I figure they'll tell me I drive too many miles
evile: the limit on mine is 15,000 a year.
SkyeDS: even if I just drove to work and back it would be 24K per year
SkyeDS: the only reason I'd want to lease is so that I didn't have to
get a loan to buy a used car.
SkyeDS: althouhg that might not be that hard to do either
evile: right.
SkyeDS: they dumped the white truck in our laps
evile: Apparently there are certain times of year when car-shopping
is easier & they'll give you better rates & such.
SkyeDS: usually they'll want one of you to have been permanently
employed for at least 6 months if not two years
SkyeDS: which hasn't happened for either one of us in years now as we
are both contractors
SkyeDS: but if I waited till the six month mark with Hugh, that might
work
evile: right.
SkyeDS: I should ask them how to get them to send me another
preapproved thing in the mail
SkyeDS: they didn't give a damn about our work situation then
evile: That's cool.
SkyeDS: woohoo lunch!
evile: yay :)
evile: hey, I'm famous (ish)! They're talking about the 'more hands'
GWNN scene on the Voyagers yahoo group :)
SkyeDS: :)
evile: No mention of me personally, but that's still cool & fun. Glad
people enjoyed it :)
SkyeDS: I don't think I want to work for IBM permanently
evile: no? too much bureaucrazy or what?
SkyeDS: just don't like it here
SkyeDS: can't get the most basic of resources when Ineed them
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: two weeks with no phone or email'
evile: That does seem kind of crazy.
evile: I don't like mine either, but I like paying bills and eating
and having a roof over my head. And nobody else wants me, so I stay.
SkyeDS: you've already got yours
SkyeDS: I don't think they're going to offer anyway
evile: never say never. For some reason, employers are like boys:
they like you more when you don't like them much.
evile: or the less you need them the more they want you. something
like that... it's all a game.
SkyeDS: if my neck problems are stress then I will hurt every day I
work here
evile: or anywhere else, probably.
SkyeDS: not if other places aren't stressful
evile: the work you do is stressful, though, right? deadlines &
perfectionism are pretty much part of the job.
SkyeDS: I have never been so stressed that i have been in this kind
of pain 24/7 before tho
SkyeDS: not even with Mersky
evile: It could be something else or something else + stress
SkyeDS: nods
evile: I'd rule other stuff out before turning away a paycheck.
evile: turn your mattress, get a new pillow, do yoga, give the ergo
stuff a chance to work, get backrubs...then ditch the job if all else
fails.
SkyeDS: things might get better after we move
SkyeDS: but I'm not quitting the contract by anymeans
evile: true.
SkyeDS: just saying, if Hugh offered, and IBM offered, I'd take Hugh
SkyeDS: even if it's less money
evile: yup. better environment means a lot.
SkyeDS: but I sitll don't think they're going to offer.
SkyeDS: as much as they need a perm paralegal or more than one
evile: bureaucrazies are not ruled by what is needed. it's all about
some bigwig with no clue who makes the budget.
SkyeDS: zactly
evile: and plenty of middle management morons who get paid to do
nothing. Which is where our budget went to this past year--1 more
middle management position was added to our dept. :P
SkyeDS: and wondering how the hell to get one of those jobs
evile: open wide...swallow, don't spit...nod & smile...stuff like
that :P
evile: Things that we with brains/conscience can't do for scumbags on
a regular basis without wanting to die.
SkyeDS: just going to have to win the lottery, all there is to it
SkyeDS: or rob a bank
evile: I'll have to skip the bank robbing, but lottery would be
nice :)
evile: Talulah's bday party is tonight. But...1) she broke up with my
friend Stephanie, did the 'just friends' speech and then didn't
invite Steph to her party and 2) she was boorish and boring and
Decemberween. So...maybe not.
SkyeDS: yuck
evile: It would be a matter of going to see her friends, who are also
my friends, but not really wanting to see HER. Which is kind of a
rude reason to go to someone's party, I think.
evile: She came to D'ween, brought seed beads for a project & sat on
the couch the whole night, didn't even hardly talk to her date, asked
me to turn on more lights so she could see her beads and got pissy
when I said NO.
SkyeDS: :(
evile: it would have been one thing if Stephanie had needed more
light to read lips, but if you're going to be antisocial and work on
a project in the middle of a nice party, go home!
evile: I asked Stephanie when she walked in the door if she had
enough light to see people's lips, and she said yes. So as far as I'm
concerned, my lights were perfect :)
SkyeDS: nods
evile: She's a pretty girl, but she has this victim/entitlement
mentality that is really offputting.
SkyeDS: I have a hard time with that kind of thinking
evile: me too. Especially since I know girls like Stephanie and
Terri, who have legitimate disabilities and STILL manage to live good
lives without demanding that the world kiss their butts.
SkyeDS: according to the ADA I could be disabled because of the
migraines
evile: Talulah is healthy, seems intelligent, so...i don't buy
her 'victim' crap.
evile: Yup. You could probably apply for SSI and get it. But you were
raised like me--don't ask for help unless you have done everything
you can to help yourself first.
SkyeDS: zact;u
evile: i dunno, there may be such a thing as having too much pride,
but Id rather err on that side than be a whiner with my hand held out.
SkyeDS: nods
evile: There is no shame in asking for help when you really need it.
But for me there still *is*...it's difficult. Which is why I can't
understand welfare & such at all.
SkyeDS: I just get tired of struggling as an ant carrying all the
grasshopers
SkyeDS: I make too much to be a grasshopper
SkyeDS: but I'm a pisspoor ant
evile: yup.
evile: I also don't understand people who are multimillionaires, have
everything they can possibly want or need, and still want more & are
unwilling to share what they have.
SkyeDS: me neither
evile: Old Money is much better about that, I think, than the nouveau
riche folks.
SkyeDS: still have sense of noblesse oblige
evile: exactly. And I wasn't raised rich, but I was raised with a
sense of social responsibility. Which a lot of people just dont'
seem to have.
SkyeDS: we haven't had for many many generations now
SkyeDS: which is where all of our problems come from imho
evile: But if that doesn't come from home (or church), it's not
anything that can be taught from outside the family..
SkyeDS: unfortunately knowing where the problem lies is not the same
as being in a position to fix it
evile: true.
evile: ti's frustrating.
evile: Oh well, nobody but me would like the world if I was in charge
of it :) So I guess I'm glad I'm not.
SkyeDS: lol I wouldn't want that job
evile: Can you imagine all the bitching & complaining you'd have to
endure? BLEH!!!
SkyeDS: lol
evile: Oh well. The only one I'm in charge of is me, and that
ususally works out fine.
SkyeDS: good by me
evile: & the occasional sub, but that's just 'for play'.
;p
SkyeDS: music makes the day so much better
SkyeDS: even if I can't sing except under my breath
evile: Definitely helps the time pass. And I have *big* headphones
that tune out all coworker & office noise.
SkyeDS: doesn't usually get loud round here, at least, like it did at
State Farms
SkyeDS: that was ungodly
SkyeDS: my lawyer had to work somewhere else entirely it was so loud
evile: yuck.
evile: Someday when we can get in the attic again, I'm running
speakers all over the LR & Kitchen that are attached to my computer,
so I can do launchcast or shoutcast for parties, etc.
SkyeDS: cool
evile: Another thing I asked Sweetie to do for me but will end up doing
myself or having done by someone else. *sigh*
SkyeDS: sineater could do that
SkyeDS: he ran all the wires in our house
evile: sineater & Sweetie are remarkably similar in that they get about a
billion projects on the 'to do' list and somehow dont' get to most
of 'em in any timely fashion. They are both very handy & know a lot
of stuff. But just too damn busy/ADD
SkyeDS: well you know about that beautiful project he started for me
in college and hasn't finished in more than a decade, and now he says
he doesn't draw well enough anymore to ever finish it
SkyeDS: and he goes on these pity trips where he can't draw, can't
sculpt, has completely lost his art, oh the agony
evile: sad.
SkyeDS: and I pointed out that the reason I can't play the way I used
to is because I don't anymore
SkyeDS: and if I want to play again, I know what i have to do, which
is devote time to practice
evile: Did you see this week's "too much coffee man" in the
Chronicle? Very topical :)
SkyeDS: and if I'm not gonna, no point in crying about it
evile: If it's important to you, you find or make the time. if not,
let it go and quitcherbitchen.
SkyeDS: yep
evile: I read a study that links testosterone to creativity in men,
so sineater may actually have something.
SkyeDS: it's well known that the older you get, the more of your art
you lose, particularly with music
SkyeDS: even if I had been nothing but a concert pianist from the age
of 17 on, I would be losing my edge in my 30s
SkyeDS: and once you start to lose it at this age, you don't ever get
it back the way you had it as a child
SkyeDS: but if you aren't going to practice your craft at all, then
what have you got to feel sorry for yourself for
SkyeDS: I just wish he'd make up his mind. Because he does lots of
drawing and stuff for these movie projects...and then goes back and
forth from whining, etc.
evile: I read a book on "what to expect in your 30's" and it was
pretty depressing. You do lose a lot of natural stuff.
SkyeDS: I'm glad he does the movies. Just wish the manic swings
would go away.
evile: So you have to try harder. But if it's worth doing, it's worth
the extra effort.
evile: From the "Magpies" thing I can sympathise, but it's hard to
listen to anyway
evile: It's one thing to have a shit job and not try very hard and
bitch about it,but quite another to put everything you have into
something and be met with indifference or disdain. It's very hard on
the ego. Helps to pretend you didn't want it anyway.
SkyeDS: nods
evile: *sigh*
SkyeDS: slow, going back to packing until Sharon gets off the phone,
at which point will have to brb
evile: . OK.
evile: I'm leaving early today, hair appointment. taking off at 4
straight up instead of 4:15-20-ish.
SkyeDS: <envious>
evile: I'm going to try and grow it out some this year.
evile: We'll see how long I can stand that :P
SkyeDS: never thought about changing my hair, don't know what I'd
want to change it to
SkyeDS: Jason is destroying his, going back and forth from
white/blond to black
evile: I thought he was going to quit with that because the dye was
so bad for his scalp. dumb kid.
SkyeDS: it was healthy enough when it was black
evile: hm.
SkyeDS: but every time he has the black removed and then does blond,
it melts inches off
SkyeDS: I like my hair the way it is
SkyeDS: I need to do something bout the ends, but cutting it short or
whatever isn't it
evile: nah, just a trim. If you like it, leave it.
SkyeDS: if I messed with hair or did breast reduction no one would
recognize me lol
evile: 'if it aint broke dont' fix it.'...if either was giving you
problems, do whatever. But if not, leave it be.
evile: my face is getting too fat to support a hairstyle that
emphasizes cheeks. Nowdays it's emphasizing jowls. So, I'm going to a
longer style that will hopefully be more flattering. Changing hair
is easier than losing weight. :P
SkyeDS: I remember when I first got this style
SkyeDS: I was 14, and went to this from having it long all the way
around
SkyeDS: which made me look horseyfaced
SkyeDS: also got my braces off and contacts all the same day
SkyeDS: got quite the reaction at school the next day
evile: I bet.
evile: The other option for me would be going super-short. Which 1)
Tina won't do and 2) would show my ears, which is as unflattering as
emphasizing the jowls.
evile: Tina irks me at times--has very narrow ideas of what should be
done with my hair. Maybe she's right, but it's still irritating to go
to her with my idea and have her say "NO"
SkyeDS: genius temperament
SkyeDS: aka artistic temperament, executive temperament
evile: I think she's lazy, personally.
SkyeDS: lol
evile: she does Lynn and me about the same style and has it down to a
very quick time for which she gets paid very well. If she did what I
wanted to , it might take her longer & make her work harder to do 2
different styles.
evile: the only diff is Lynn gets permed after her cut, but other
than that our cuts are identical.
SkyeDS: nods
evile: I am not a 55 year old woman and have no desire to be one at
this point in life. so it gets...tiresome.
SkyeDS: aye
evile: I'll be there soon enough :) No point in rushing it.
SkyeDS: bemuses me that people go back and forth from telling me I
don't look anything near my age, to telling me I look like I"m old
enough to be sonar0m' mother.
evile: heh. Some days are better than others I guess.
SkyeDS: I don't really give a damn either way
evile: and you could be his mother...if you'd had him as soon as you
started your periods. :P
SkyeDS: which I am told is the luxury of someone who doesn't look
their age...yet
evile: I think I was carded for alcohol once last year. It was at HEB
no biggie, but still kinda fun
SkyeDS: that's what's bemusing. I get carded all the damn time.
evile: heh. Awesome.
SkyeDS: beginning years ago when I got carded at age 19 to see the
movie Cocktails
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: right after my 15 yo friend walked right in
SkyeDS: wtf gets carded for movies besides me
evile: heh. I think I got carded for Clan of the Cave Bear.
SkyeDS: have not read nor seen Clan, but I read Valley of the Horses
SkyeDS: and was told they just degenerate after that (like Rice does)
evile: indeed, they do. (was only 16, so we had to get Liz's mom to
buy our tickets, and then we went in)
evile: We'd already read teh books, so wTf
evile: The crap thing about that series is that the sequels come out
so sporadically, you almost HAVE to go back and re-read the previous
books. and they get WORSE every time your re-read them. ugh. I've
given up.
evile: *sigh* I wish I was a bored TX housewife. I'd totally join
this fitness center. Their facility looks *gorgeous*...but their
hours suck for a working person. http://www.thehillsfitness.com/
SkyeDS: all I want is an indoor pool, hot tub, yoga and pilates
classes
SkyeDS: maybe when I get settled somewhere permanently
SkyeDS: but right now I don't evne walk and do kneebends like I mean
to do
evile: 24 hour fitness had a really nice water area, hot tub, sauna,
steam room, etc. But I never used it enough to really make it worth
my while. I miss J-Law. She is the only good workout partner I've ever
had & the time I spent with her is the only regular workouts I've
ever done in my life.
SkyeDS: I feel that way about riding with Linda
evile: Oh well. I'll find me another workout buddy someday, or else
buckle down and commit to doing it myself.
SkyeDS: if something develops with Hugh I should be in town during
the week anyway
evile: I'm doing better this month than I have in a while but not
regularly enough yet to say I really have a system or a program going
SkyeDS: although you'd have to start slow with me at this point i'm
so out of it
evile: The fact that you aren't just up the road anymore is
problematic :P
evile: Oh well. Maybe when your schedule settles in we could try 1 or
2 days a week. Walk/swim at bull creek maybe?
evile: restroom. BRB!
evile: back. :)
SkyeDS: wb
SkyeDS: everybody seems to be very tense
evile: at work? or in general?
SkyeDS: I wonder if my pain isn't because I"m soaking up stuff around
me without even knowing it
SkyeDS: because I swear to god I've never felt like this before, for
so long at a time, and so bad
SkyeDS: I'm not much of an empath, but I'm enough of one to notice it
evile: Hematite is good against that, in my experience.
SkyeDS: I think when I have my own office I may launch an all out
campaing
SkyeDS: stones, incense, candles, whatever it takes to chill this
place out
evile: aromatherapy is good, without burning stuff (which is against
rules in a lot of buildings)
SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: suggestions for where to get good stuff cheap?
evile: I got some good stuff at ULTA - "The healing garden"
brandname 'de stress lavender' was the product. I got a whole
little 'kit' for $5. Boss said I could have the candle but not light
it. It smelled good enough without being lit.
SkyeDS: I love lavender
evile: the lotion is very good.
SkyeDS: I was wondering about aromatherapy that wasn't candles
SkyeDS: but you're right they don't have to be lit
SkyeDS: and there's oils and stuff
evile: yup.
evile: Whole foods carries a lot of oils but they're $.
evile: same with Natural magic. Not quite as pricey, and they're cool
so you don't mind paying *if* you've got it to spend in the first
place ;)
SkyeDS: I just can't figure what's wrong
SkyeDS: and I don't want to go to the doctor
SkyeDS: it's either physical, or not
SkyeDS: done all I can do about the physical, by fixing the ergo as
much as I can, wearing the neck pillow, taking muscle relaxant, etc
SkyeDS: doing yoga as I can (but it hurts to do much)
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: so now I have to address teh nonphysical
SkyeDS: and I don't see what a doctor can tell me that would be
different
SkyeDS: besides that I have whiplash or something else that would
prevent me from working, and that's not an option either
evile: We need to find someone who lives in an apartment complex wiht
a hot tub :)
SkyeDS: Bob & Phyl have a hot tub
SkyeDS: but they're moving Monday
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: we've been tubbing there a few times but not much
SkyeDS: Kaleon has a tub at his apartment
evile: are they leaving Austin, or just going somewhere else in town?
SkyeDS: they're moving to Vidor close to Beaumont
evile: Somehow I think Kaleon would be unhappy to find me in his hot
tub... :P
SkyeDS: I doubt he'd even know if he weren't there at the same time
evile: Big move for P & B. Bummer.
SkyeDS: I want an indoor tub when I can figure out where I'd put it
SkyeDS: because I don't want to get rid of my exisiting bathtub
evile: true, but if management asked whose guests we were, I can see
it becoming troublesome.
SkyeDS: brb
evile: The last Austin Home & Garden show had some great
outdoor, enclosed hot tubs. Next time I have 5 grand just laying
around, I'm getting one.//OK

SkyeDS: bk
evile: cool :)
SkyeDS: that stupid associate's paralegal isn't any brighter than he
is
SkyeDS: but then never know, that may be because she works for him
evile: hee.
evile: smart people know to hire people smarter than they are. Stupid
people feel threatened by smart people & hire stupider people.
SkyeDS: lovely
SkyeDS: that or they hire smart people so they can take credit and
get paid for it
evile: or at least that's my observation. YMMV
SkyeDS: law firms make it a habit of pairing long time experienced
paralegals and secretaries with baby lawyers
SkyeDS: so that "green on green won't make black and blue" as we say
in the horse bidness
evile: makes sense.
SkyeDS: I have been offered opportunities to do that before. No
thank you.
evile: it would be frustrating, true.
SkyeDS: I prefer my children to come already potty trained thanks all
the same
evile: heh. true.
evile: it might depend on the newbie, but for the most part, I dont'
work well with virgins of any kind.
evile: Jaime didn't know what 'sub drop' was AND was an abused child.
I think I can rule out playing with him in the way Kathleen wanted me
to. no thanks!
evile: There's aftercare and then there's full-out psychotherapy, and
I am not qualified to do that !!
SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: sineater has much to learn about that subculture but I don't
think he's interested in correcting his misconceptions
SkyeDS: so I don't bother
evile: Nope. If he's not interested, he's not interested.
evile: Sweetie has no interest, either.
evile: Any more than I want to learn how to work on the VW. No reason
any 2 people should have the exact same interests.
SkyeDS: let him think what he wants to think about the way my
switch/sub psyche works
SkyeDS: always someone else who will understand
evile: sure.
SkyeDS: one big problem in relationships is that people wan ttheir
partners to fulfill every need they have all the time
SkyeDS: why have more than one friend if that were the case
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: brb little girl's room
SkyeDS: hugs if you're gone when I get back (it's across the bdg)
evile: *hugs* see ya tomorrow, if you want. Totally understand if
you'd rather stay out of the rain :)
evile: time for me to walk around & drop off paper, then I'm leaving,
anyhow!
XO!
