I think there's a bad underlying assumption in this question...you see two option A and B. You pick A, which turns out to be a bad choice. But there's no way to really know if B would have been a better decision, or if it would have also turned out badly. And hindsight reveals that there were more choices at that time that you never even saw or considered. You can really make yourself crazy second-guessing your past.
I suppose its weak minded and trite, but you just have to see mistakes and bad choices as 'opportunities' for growth and learning, don't live in the past or let regret consume you, realize that today has new choices, and the main choice you get to make each time something happens is 'what kind of person do I want to be'...everything else can be taken from you, but that choice is always there.
