    VENGEANCE
    (Sullivan) 1983

Escaped the net in '45, hiding out in South America
Protected by money and powerful friends
Hoping the world has forgotten by now
All the things that you did in the Nazi Death camps
The people that you tortured and killed
You can live you life in expectant fear
Sure some day you'll be made to pay

    Ch: I believe in justice
    I believe in vengeance
I believe in getting the bastard

Man walks over dressed in flashy clothes
With an empty heart and a head full of money
Puts his arm around the lad of fifteen years
Talks sort of close like a long-lost brother
"It's really cool, all the pop stars do
If you don't try a little you'd really be a fool
Tell you what I'll do, I'll make the first one free
And when you want some more just come back to me"

    [Alternative version of second verse:]
Loading up the barrels at the warehouse gates
Men in overalls on double rates
Put the stuff in the river and away for a beer
Don't worry too much, they don't live around here
And the poison seeps into every pore
Every child's eyes, every innocent's sore
Everybody knows behind the closed doors
Kick down the doors, kick down the doors

    Ch: I believe in justice
    I believe in vengeance
I believe in getting the bastard

Top-dog fascist gets the boys in the corner
Plants poison where there was just confusion
    Walks away scot-free and laughing
Rides on the tide as the cancer grows
And the business man on corruption charges
With millions of dollars in dirty money
Gets a thousand pound fine after months in court
While the lawyers get fat and the law gets bought

    Ch: I believe in justice
    I believe in vengeance
I believe in getting the bastard

Modern morality is a funny thing. It's not about right and wrong,
it's about what you can get away with. And then, if you get caught,
and you have enough money and enough powerful friends, you can get
lawyers to tell you and everyone else that you really haven't done
anything wrong at all. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as
individual conscience or moral absolutes. Everything is relative.

That just seems so wrong to me...

    evile: happy hump day.
    SkyeDS: woohoo
evile: I had a nice day off yesterday.
    SkyeDS: :)
SkyeDS: [sister H] say anything about her trip to see them?
evile: She said it was fine. She mostly talked about the wedding &
seeing her cousin & family, family friends, dancing at the reception,
etc. We took her pictures to a 1 hour place, so we got to see the
dresses and hair style and all.
SkyeDS: so she did see A & the baby.
    evile: yes.
    SkyeDS: weddings are fun
evile: And her bridesmaids dress wasn't nearly as awful as she said
it was, neither was her hair. They got up at 8 a.m. on Saturday to go
    to get their hair done.
evile: or earlier than that, because the appointment was at 8.
evile: The lady sprayed about a ton of hairspray on it, which is
so 'not [sister H]' but the style wasn't as dreadfully severe as [sister H]
    made it sound.
evile: there were 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, best man, matron of
honor, and 3 litttle flower girls. Very cute.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: And we had nice shopping.
evile: There's a store in the Central Market shopping center, off to
the right of the store, over where the Cadeau & stuff is, that had
some really cool gypsy/bellydance style jewelry & such. Not bad
    prices.
evile: I was tempted by a pair of big dangly earrings that match my
tacky ringy-bracelet-thing (that I still need to add jump rings to)
    SkyeDS: retail therapy :)
evile: I only actually came home with a shirt for work, a picture
    frame, and some stickers.
SkyeDS: I think I've been in that store you're talking about
evile: they had brooches, necklaces, earrings up front, and then
purses on one wall, and clothes near the back.
SkyeDS: I remember the clothes, mostly, and the decor
evile: We had fun there. [aunt L] found some earrings for mom.
evile: and then [sister H] & I really liked the big paper/stationery store
over on the same side. Started talking wedding invites & such. Boy,
    it's really in the air.
    SkyeDS: that time of year
evile: I guess so. It seems very pervasive just now, everyone buying
    houses and/or getting married.
SkyeDS: I noticed the house buying thing
SkyeDS: and it was at this time of year I went house shopping in 02,
    too
SkyeDS: I'm going to be slow, setting up Hugh's puter, a nd then mine
    SkyeDS: (the new ones)
    evile: ok
evile: I found some really lovely spyware on my computer that just
randomly pops up ads, and some of them TALK...while I'm trying to
listen to my launchcast. I'm ripping that crap out by the roots...may
end up having to reboot at some point.

SkyeDS: on Sineater's advice we run ad-aware AND spybot, AND AVG (virus)
SkyeDS: the new boxes came with McAfee but I'm installing avg anyway
evile: which all require me to download something and I am not
allowed to download (on purpose) to the work machine.
SkyeDS: I have his box up and running, a nd everything transferred
over, but he's going to have to reinstall software, and put the
    printer on it
evile: and apparently their anti virus is the usual pos 'truck with
square wheels' type crap that we always use around here.
SkyeDS: and remove his current puter from the puter stand and move
this one up there when he's satisfied that it's ready
evile: Sounds like a busy afternoon for you :)
SkyeDS: work machine = someone else's problem besides yours
SkyeDS: they won't let you download protection, not your problem
evile: yes, but if the shit bolluxes up my machine enough, they 'fix
it' by take away email, yahoo, launchcast, lj, and everything else
that keeps me from killing my fuckingself here.
    SkyeDS: nodnod :(
SkyeDS: are you able to bring stuff in on floppies or cds?
evile: no, it's unauthorized software. no downloading from the
internet, no downloading from disks, no downloading, anything, ever.
SkyeDS: I sorry, don't know what to tell you then
SkyeDS: only two ways I know of to keep spyware/viruses off. No
internet whatsoever, or run adaware/spybot/virus protection
    SkyeDS: and/or firewall
    evile: yup
evile: Other coworkers download, have screen savers of personal
photos, etc, but I am sure that if I downloaded something
protective/beneficial, I'd be the one to get bent over and fucked.
SkyeDS: they don't have you blocked so you can't download if you
    tried? that's weird.
evile: there is stuff we download from the intranet to update our in-
house programs, so maybe there isn't a way to enable that and disable
    other stuff.
evile: or maybe our IT people are idiots.
SkyeDS: they made Mike temp for a year before they made him perm
again at Dell. They're making Sineater and his team perm immediately and
on top of that are paying him what he made in the lab (20 - 22 hr)
SkyeDS: life is going to be good again, twelve months ahead of
    schedule
    evile: excellent :)
SkyeDS: I'm sorry I gave the wrong impression the other day, I was
    afraid I was going to.
    evile: Dont' worry about it.
SkyeDS: and upon rethinking it, if you had good reason/strategy for
going to something on her invite rather than [aunt L]'s or whatever, and
you had good reason/strategy for needing support, I could be reasoned
    into it.
SkyeDS: just a kneejerk response to say no automatically to any
invite bearing her name (kneejerk reactions bad, I know)
evile: nope, I'm going Prime Directive with the [brother A]/[rubber pig] situation
evile: If I ever get a knock on my door and look out the peephole and
she's standing there, she's dead, but other than that, no contact.
SkyeDS: that they were reasonable with [Dad], and with [sister H], is
    hopeful
    evile: yup
evile: J-Law is totally right "a day off is always followed by an off
    day"
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: unless day off = Friday
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: if I didn't drive two hours every day I'd work a 4/10 and
    take fri off completely
    evile: I wish I could.
SkyeDS: as it is I work 4x9 and then half day Fri
    evile: that's pretty nice.
evile: I'm taking my birthday off...no way I'm coming up to this
    shithole on my birthday.
evile: let them use someone else as an excuse to eat garbage and
stand around gabbing all fuckin day.
    SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: oh well. less than 45 minutes to go, and then home &
polydinner. Today won't be a total waste of time.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: It was really nice having some walking buddies on Monday.
Seems like we may try and make that a more regular occurrence.
evile: oh, dear. they added fried twinkies to the menu at alligator
    grill...
    SkyeDS: lovely
SkyeDS: that doesn't even sound good to me when I'm having sugar
    cravings
evile: tried them at Plucker's out of curiousity...haven't been too
tempted to do it again, but then there's this part of me that
says "all this fuss can't have been for the way they do them at
    Plucker's, maybe Alligator's are really good..."...and you'd think I
would just learn my damn lesson about wierd fried crap from the
    Bakehouse.
    SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: Just got email from Sir M, apparently he's going to be
    at dinner tonight :)
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: Nikiyoy will be in class, but Onyxlynxx will be there, and maybe
Kulilinei, if she doesn't stay home with Kai. Tonight is Knighthorse's date
night with Kili...so we'll see. I told her she should bring him, but
she's actually one of those parents who doesn't drag her kids around
everywehre, just in case the kid is bored/bad and bothers other
    people. Imagine that!!
evile: I love Knighthorse--he's the only parent who laughs at all of my
    baby-hating humor.
SkyeDS: I thought they broke up
evile: Knighthorse and Kili? She's moved into a new place and he's moved
out to the house/land with Kulilinei, but they still see each other.
evile: I don't know if they're 'just friends' or what these days, but
they're still on speaking terms & such.
evile: She had been walking all over Kulilinei and Knighthorse, demanding (and
getting) more than her fair share of the resources of the household,
and then engaging in drama & such that were disruptive to the baby
and to the adults peace of mind, so some new boundaries/rules were
put in place that may have felt to Kili and/or Kulilinei like a breakup,
    but not to Knighthorse.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: I'm glad she isn't in a position to hurt Kulilinei or teh baby
    anymore
evile: I think it's healthier for all concerned. And I'm glad that
she hasn't been written off completely; she needs sane, decent people
in her life to give her a model of behavior that she may end up
    emulating....
    evile: I would hope, anyway.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: wind to your wings, have a good time at dinner :)
    SkyeDS: <not off till 7
evile: OK. Have a good evening :)
