I dreamt that I was with some kind of stargate team or somesuch, we
went to another planet or another plane of existence, and the people
there were totally peaceful and wonderful, and I fell in serious lust
with one of the guys on this alternate plane. We started to make out
and whatnot, and he got worried because he didn't want to make me
pregnant, and turns out they didn't have contraceptives and didn't
have STDs in their world. I told him I was surgically sterile and he
    was all amazed & stuff.

evile: I saw your post on big fun, I won't be leaving for Bastrop
    park until Saturday sometime, probably.
evile: Hopefully you and ladydreamtime will be able to work out a carpool
    plan.
thewordnerd: Yeah, more than likely. I'll probably post to the list in a
week or so, too, just to see what offers I receive. Something will
    work out.
    evile: *nod*
evile: I'm trying to make walking plans with Acadiana..she's a bit of
a space cadet, but very very sweet. Looks like we're meeting after
work at the main library. I wouldn' t have time to get home and come
get you, but if you can bus to the big stop in front of the Capitol
by 4 I could meet you there.

thewordnerd: By 4? I can probably do that. The #5 stops there, right? I may
be a bit late (like perhaps 15 minutes) but I can be there.
evile: I am pretty sure ALL the buses go to the Capitol at some
    point. I think Cap Metros # is 474 1200
thewordnerd: Actually . . . yeah, I'm almost positive this one does, too,
because I think I remember a capitol stop when I've ridden it before.
So there's one huge stop, then?
evile: It is a large covered area with about 10 benches, out on the
sidewalk in front of the State Capitol, Congress and 11th I think.
    South side of the Capitol.
thewordnerd: Ok. Sounds good. Any idea where to go for the walk?
evile: We were talking about going over by the Library--there's a
pretty neighborhood back there with lots of big Victorian houses &
    nice landscaping & such.
evile: It's still too muddy to go to any parks that I can think of.
So a nice neighborhood was Acadianas' thought. I wasn't familiar
enough with the Hyde Park area where she likes to walk, so I figured
the Main Library would be a good landmark.
thewordnerd: Oh, neat, sounds good. I was thinking something like Pease Park
(SP?) maybe, but that'd require bussing to, and I'm not entirely sure
    about its trails.
evile: Pease Park is MUDDY, swampy, filthy right now.
thewordnerd: Yeah, I imagine those gravel trails probably aren't holding up
    terribly well. :)
    evile: what gravel?
thewordnerd: Oh, I thought there were gravel/paved trails out there.
thewordnerd: I went to a couple parks last summer, so maybe I'm confusing
    them. Ugh, pesky memory.
evile: maybe up near the playground and stuff, but where the HFS
people go to play, it's dirt.
thewordnerd: Hmmm. I'm not sure where we went. A neighborhood would be more
interesting, though. we aren't stuck on a trail that loops around and
    can just go wherever.
evile: the trails at Pease park go for miles, from what I
understand. There's small loops of gravel that go around the
playground/restroom/eeyore's birthday area, and then miles and miles
of dirt trails that run along the creek.
thewordnerd: Oh, wow, I didn't realize it was that extensive.
    evile: yup.
evile: There's a bus stop by the Library too, but I don't know which
bus #'s those are, I just figured it would be easier for you to get
to the capitol, and that's on the way from my office to the library.
thewordnerd: Yeah, probably. I know the busses announce the capitol stop,
and it's easier for the driver to remember.
evile: they announce all of 'em, as far as I know...but yeah, capitol
    is easier.
thewordnerd: I don't know what the policy on announcing is. I think they
should announce them all, but my experience is that they often don't,
or only get the big ones.
evile: I don't know, I just ride #37 to work, and it talks all the
    time
thewordnerd: Ah. I think they're supposed to announce every stop, but in
practice they only do the big ones. They don't announce Woodrow and
Houston, for instance, which is mine.
evile: the blind guy who rides my route (the one the guy at the Dog &
Duck thought was you) always tells the driver where he's going,
regardless. Seems like a good policy. I don't know what the mechanism
is, but I have noticed that it sometimes gets a stop ahead or behind.
thewordnerd: Yeah, that's generally what I do, too. That, and try to remind
them periodically, although sometimes they forget, or sometimes I
don't know whether a reminder is too early or too late.
    evile: that sucks.
thewordnerd: Eh, it usually works out fine. Very annoying when it doesn't,
though, and I get dropped off in the wrong place with no way of
getting the bus number to complain. :)
    evile: yup
evile: Anyhoo..you'll have my cell # so you can call if something
    comes up, or whatever.
thewordnerd: Yeah. I'm sure it'll be fine, though. This is a big stop. I'm
only worried when returning home, because it's difficult to explain
the stop that's in front of my driveway, and sometimes they stop at
the one before or after, which is still confusing because there are
so many identical driveways and it's tough to pick the right one. :)
evile: We can burn that bridge when we come to it, I guess. I'll be
bussing back to my house, maybe you can ride w/me and I can drop you
home, or maybe Acadiana can take you.
thewordnerd: Possibly. We'll see what happens. I'm not terribly worries
about it, as I've done it before, I was just voicing my frustrations
about the bus drivers not announcing every stop. :)
    evile: OK.
thewordnerd: Hmmm, so I'm getting dressed to head out. What type of terrain
are we going to be dealing with? Seems I always wear the wrong type
of shoes. :) Would sandals be ok?
evile: neighborhood. Sidewalks and such. No mud.
thewordnerd: Basically I don't know if this is a nice, sidewalked
neighborhood or if we'll be walking through gutters and such.
    thewordnerd: Oh, neat.
evile: I'll be in work clothes, so that won't be happening.
thewordnerd: Ok, then, sandals it is. :)
thewordnerd: Ok, I'm about to head out. I'm almost entirely positive that
the #5 stops at the capitol, so I'll be at that stop. I only have a
few voicedial slots in my phone, and can't program the speeddial
slots, so I'm going to memorize your number and will call if anything
    changes.
    evile: 698 2855
evile: I'm sure the driver will help you.
thewordnerd: Or, at least, I'll try to memorize it. Whew, it stayed in my
head for a few minutes, maybe I'm good to go now. :)
thewordnerd: Yeah. All righty, I'm off.
    evile: see ya!!

    evile: happy hump day. :)
    SkyeDS: how do! :)
evile: hangin in there. How's your day going?
    SkyeDS: good so far
    evile: cool :)
evile: Looks like it'll be nice enough after work to go walk.
SkyeDS: indeed! I'm updating my journal. Calendaring takes a while.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: you would like the pictures of larry and martha's place
    (www.cbarstables.com)
SkyeDS: and they rent horses for the rides
    evile: cool ;)
evile: They are the ones who run the spring & fall trail rides, right?
    SkyeDS: yes
SkyeDS: waterfalls and canyons and seas of yellow wildflowers and
    bluebonnets
evile: I know y'all enjoyed when you went.
evile: I'm trying to make walking plans with Acadiana..she's a bit of
a space cadet, but very very sweet.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Last time I saw her was at the V. day burlesque at Sidekicks.
It was too loud and crowded to really talk.
SkyeDS: the things ya'll have in common will probably be VERY in
    common
SkyeDS: otherwise you'll probably be VERY diverse when you
    respectfully agree to disagree
evile: Her reply seemed pretty comprehensive.
    SkyeDS: she's textbook Leo lady.
    evile: eeps.
SkyeDS: I will assume until if/when she proves otherwise that she has
improved with age as I hope we all have.
evile: *shrug* I have met her several times, but never in a situation
where we could talk for any length of time.
SkyeDS: she can be utterly fascinating. I'm thinking she may have
surfeited on Drama at this point and not be quite as addicted to it
as say a decade or more ago
    evile: hope so.
SkyeDS: guaranteed fun even if just in small doses.
    evile: hee.
SkyeDS: she seems to be happy, and happy people are generally more
    pleasant to be around
    evile: true.
evile: I hope I can just say a couple of things to start us off and
she can do the rest of the talking. That's easier.
SkyeDS: she likes to talk, you like to listen, that will work just
    fine.
    evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I know she can listen too, she worked for psychic lines for
    years before I did
SkyeDS: offhand I don't know anyone with sharper Sight with the cards
    evile: I didn't know that!
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: she worked for Dion Warwick's line before it went down
SkyeDS: I worked for a different line
evile: Oh, I'll have to ask her about that :)
SkyeDS: my interest in the cards stemmed from watching her. I was
just an amateur astrologer at the time
    evile: everybody's gotta start somewhere.
SkyeDS: anyway, to quote carly simon, nobody does it better (reading
    the tarot)
    evile: cool.
SkyeDS: I need to be restricted from aeclectic.net
SkyeDS: I keep finding decks I want
    evile: that's an awesome site.
    SkyeDS: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/celestial/
evile: Lots of horses, I guess I know why you like it :)
    SkyeDS: <whistles innocently>
    evile: heehee.
    SkyeDS: horses and naked womens
    evile: *nod* very nice.
evile: when are y'all leaving for Gulf War?
SkyeDS: Friday after I get home from work
SkyeDS: I'm going to try to drive the Ranger to work so that the Ram
can be loaded while I"m working
evile: *nod* Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully the Ranger will be up
    for it.
SkyeDS: my parents are trying to ensure that today
    evile: Nice of them.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Looks like something like a 15 hour drive, or so?
SkyeDS: I have no idea. depends on how often we stop and for how long
SkyeDS: 7 hours with no stops (obviously not going to happen)
SkyeDS: I think I've heard 12 from various sources
evile: 7? It's at least 9 to New Orleans.
evile: (depending on how horrendous Houston is, and what the road is
like between Houston and BR or so)
evile: I guess if you go up thru shreveport & all that, it's more of
    a straight shot across LA.
evile: J-law & I went thru Shreveport on the way to IN, we were
seriously in Adventure Mode that trip.
SkyeDS: I think we're taking 10 all the way through LA but I"m not
    sure
evile: cool. I think it's 20 that goes thru shreveport. ... *shrug*
    been awhile.
SkyeDS: 20 does go SHreveport to Dallas I know
evile: *nod* I think that's more-or-less what we did..with some
sidetracks for various landmarks & whatnot. :P crazy kids that we
    were...
SkyeDS: when we could make 370 miles in 5.5 hours with no stops you
    mean...
evile: Kept the ol' guardian angel busy in those days...
evile: I got a thing in the mail from ESA for their next campout.
They need to work on sending those things out a little earlier, give
people a bit more advance notice.
SkyeDS: it's during War or we'd go
SkyeDS: I'm on two or three of the ESA groups but I don't read t hem
    often
evile: I didn't know there were any groups..
    SkyeDS: yahoo groups
    evile: I didn't know that.
SkyeDS: I think I went through the webpage and asked to be put on
SkyeDS: even though I didn't pay dues
evile: hm, I'll have to check that out I guess.
SkyeDS: some amount of drama - pagans like their drama as much or
    more than the next person
evile: I'd just like a little more advance notice of stuff going on,
    so I can make plans.
    SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: I'm going to Fredericksburg that day (assumign the weather is
nice) for trade days & a tasting/live music thingy at Chisholm Trail.
    SkyeDS: yum
evile: Chisholm Trail is mostly dry wines, even their dessert wine is
dry. The one you'd probably like from them is a 'white merlot' I
    think it's called "ghost rider"
evile: Their spread is nice, they've got horses and a few longhorns,
a couple of dogs, and some kind of bird.
SkyeDS: as long as it isn't karo light :)
evile: It's a husband and wife team that are both attorneys in San
Antonio & do the winery on the side. I think winemaking is
another "you can make a small fortune...out of a larger one" type
    enterprise
evile: The white merlot is kind of like a white zinfandel, but a
    little bit more intense.
    SkyeDS: I like zinfandel
    evile: you like white zinfandel.
    SkyeDS: I don't t hink I've ever had one t hat wasn't white
    evile: *nod*
evile: Zinfandel started out as a tannic dry red, and White Zinfandel
was invented in California to be more accessible to non-wine people.
    SkyeDS: eg us babies :)
    evile: I didn't say that :P
    SkyeDS: no, I did :P
evile: White Zinfandel is a lot more versatile, goes with more types
of food, is generally a safe pick
SkyeDS: I do wish I had taken notes when Lycanthus wife gave me a
    crash course on cheese tho
evile: I like to check out the assortments offered in igourmet.com
and then go pick them up at Whole Foods or Central Market.
evile: they often have serving suggestions & groupings of cheeses
that will be complementary to one another.
SkyeDS: if I had had time during my work day I would have gone to the
new opening of WF down here (but I didn't)
evile: I heard it was a zoo.
evile: I will wait for the hoo-ha to die down and then go check it
    out.
evile: thewordnerd is going to meet me in front of the Capitol...assuming
    the bus gets him there.
    SkyeDS: :)
evile: Some days I want to strangle him. He's asking ME which buses
run where and when...and I"m all like "Call cap metro, dude"..
evile: And then he goes off to catch the bus, without confirming with
Cap Metro which bus goes where, when.
evile: I understand there are some limitations you have when you're
blind, but he ought to be able to use the damn phone and get info
evile: He just has this entitlement mentality that makes me crazy. He
posts in his LJ and asks who's going to Big Fun that can give him a
ride. Ladydreamtime volunteers right away & tells him exactly when she plans
to head to the park. So does he get with her and firm up plans? No,
he's going to wait and post to the group to see what other offers
come up. Like he's doing people a favor by asking for a ride? what?
evile: He's very smart, witty, and funny, but negative, whiney and
    bitchy, too.
SkyeDS: victim mentality is popular in this country and has been for
    a long while now
evile: hm. ugly mirror time....that could also be a good desc. of me.
evile: oh well. It's 4 and I'm going to go enjoy the day.
    evile: Have a good afternoon/evening!

SkyeDS: wind to your wings :)
