evile: (clutter)

    Feb. 6, 2004

evile: hey, happy Friday & stuff. :)
    SkyeDS: hey :)
SkyeDS: been playing phone tag w/ my handler today
SkyeDS: day will be better when I find out what he's got to say...
evile: More problems, or just a 'what's up?" chat?
    SkyeDS: no clue
SkyeDS: yesterday was not a good day
    SkyeDS: she interrupted lunch
    evile: yuck. I'm sorry.
SkyeDS: and then when I was off the clock she came in and got on my
case while I was trying to relax enough to drive
    evile: how awful.
SkyeDS: I'm halfway hoping today is my last day
evile: I can totally see that.
evile: I had to restrain myself from ripping Mr. "KlanWizard" a new
one on the poly austin group, but I think I managed a polite post.
evile: I shouldn't get so offended--even Aunt L & Uncle B used to have some
silly notions about the 'evil' East Side, even though Aunt L is a
longtime Ciscos Darios, and Mr. Natural customer. I guess it's
different to actually *live* there. The first thing Aunt L said when
she saw our new house on the evil East Side was "Oh, this isn't so
    bad!"....thanks.
    SkyeDS: hot damn
SkyeDS: she wants to replace me
    evile: rock :)
SkyeDS: and she couldn't tell him anything other than I just don't
    like her
SkyeDS: nothing wrong with quantity nor quality of work
SkyeDS: and I told him, look, you know Sunday I wanted to walk
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: and I didn't because i've never walked in my entire
    professional life
evile: So today's your last day, then?
SkyeDS: so as long as I have nothing to improve upon professionally
    SkyeDS: yep :)
SkyeDS: I asked him 3 times, did she say anything that I could use to
    improve upon
    evile: awesome :)
SkyeDS: and he said no, so he's happy, and will give me more stuff
    if it comes up
SkyeDS: he wanted to send me to San ANtonio and I told him that was
    too far away
SkyeDS: as much as I love real estate
SkyeDS: today is sineater's last day at Dell too
    evile: wow.
SkyeDS: he might as well teach lessons with m e till he gets
    something else, I figure
    evile: sure.
evile: sineater is very sweet with children.
    SkyeDS: yes he is
SkyeDS: as much as he professes to hate them
SkyeDS: which he professes quite loudly any time we take ours out
evile: heh. You wouldn't know we weren't related by blood :)
SkyeDS: you are both dark headed, dark eyed, skin tone not quite
similar, and your names are close, and then there are behaviors :)
SkyeDS: people say I look like my mother, and I'm adopted as you
know, ITalian, where she is part Cherokee
evile: nature vs nurture--very fascinating :)
SkyeDS: our skin tones are very different
SkyeDS: nothing in common but hair, eyes, and talent for language
SkyeDS: I'm out of here, and I didn't have to be the bad guy
    SkyeDS: can't beat that
evile: That is definitely a win-win.
SkyeDS: when you leave, I'll spend an hour wiping the computer down
evile: I am waiting to see if there is any fallout from a comment I
made yesterday, very offhanded, but quite stupid in the wake of 9/11
& all the subsequent paranoia in the Capitol Complex
    SkyeDS: what you say?
evile: I ran into a guy who used to be a Hearing Officer, and now is
in Commission Appeals (with the bigwigs), we were chitchatting
about 'how are ya, how's the job, bla bla' and I said something about
how I'd been here long enough it would be hard to fire me unless I
did something heinous like blow up the building.

    OOPS
    SkyeDS: I'm not getting it
    SkyeDS: I know I'm dense
evile: Well, if you were interested in getting me fired, or in
trouble, you could take that as me saying I wanted to blow up the
    building.
SkyeDS: you could just have easily said committed a serial ax murder
    rape
SkyeDS: if there is fallout from what you said, tis time for you to
    be seriously looking elsewhere anyway.
evile: And around here, you never know who is trying to get you in
trouble or fired, because backstabbing gossip is the currency
    supervisors trade in
    SkyeDS: I wasn't figuring on eavesdroppers, you're right :/
evile: I hate my life and want to die most of the time, anyway, and
the job is largely responsible for that outlook, BUT...I am pretty
sure I can't find anything better and VERY sure I could be doing a
    lot worse.
    SkyeDS: yes
SkyeDS: why I didn't walk a week ago
    SkyeDS: that and pride
SkyeDS: I've NEVER walked on a contract
SkyeDS: (which is not to say I've never resigned a permanent position)
SkyeDS: but I tell you what
SkyeDS: despite the fact that I filled a 7 foot tall cabinet with
    binders
evile: You generally figure you can stick it out if it's a short term
thing anyway, but this one was worse than most, I think.
SkyeDS: a 5 foot tall five drawer filing cabinet
SkyeDS: and reviewed 5 boxes of documents for organization yesterday
SkyeDS: she came in here and asked me if I had been doing nothing but
    playing games all afternoon
    evile: nice.
SkyeDS: so, I have two options
SkyeDS: I can finish the project I started this morning (apply labels
    and do the filing)
SkyeDS: and then play the rest of the aftenroon
SkyeDS: or I can just play
SkyeDS: and part of me says it's poetic justice if I commit the crime
I've been doing the time for
evile: yeah, but you've got a work ethic & you have to live with
yourself after today even if Sharon doesn't.
SkyeDS: am also tempted to lock all the keys (except the room key) up
in a drawer. That won't cause any more annoyance than just calling
for a copy of the key, in the long run.
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: actually it isn't much trouble to finish the filing
    organization
SkyeDS: I can do that and play at the same time
    SkyeDS: I'm talented that way
evile: yup. me too. Its more trouble than it's worth being more
talented than surrounding drudges. I've been in trouble for that
    since first fucking grade.
SkyeDS: I used to get in trouble in first grade for reading ahead
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I got bored, read ahead, got in trouble for not paying
    attention
evile: It's a total no win.
evile: Either you finished your reading and wanted to talk to the
other kids and got in trouble, OR you finished, but knew the other
kids were still working, so read quietly by yourself. Either way, you
    get in trouble. stupid.
SkyeDS: I got in trouble when we were reading outloud
    SkyeDS: they read slow
SkyeDS: so I would read ahead
SkyeDS: and then when it was my time to read out loud I was never
where I was supposed to be
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: and then in high school I got in trouble, not for talking, no
SkyeDS: but for doing homework in class
    SkyeDS: that's right
SkyeDS: example: I'd finish my Calculus. and have time left. And
rather than read a trashy historical romance, I'd do English homework
    or whatever
SkyeDS: and STILL get in trouble
evile: Good practice for the work world, really, all of that petty
nonsense we thought we'd gotten away from when we graduated.
    SkyeDS: omfg
SkyeDS: I've fallen back into high school and I can't get out!
evile: There is no such thing as "the real world"--it's High School
forever except everyone gets older and fatter and more unattractive.
evile: I wish I could find the 'real world' analogue to my Junior &
    Senior years.
SkyeDS: I know what my analog is
SkyeDS: yes, I know I'm different
SkyeDS: I don't want to be like you
SkyeDS: I just want you to leave me peacefully alone
evile: My last 2 years were awesome because I stopped caring, stopped
trying to fit in, and found a bunch of other people who also didn't
care and didn't want to fit in. Took it upon myself to adopt the
Freshman & Sophs who were outcasts, and by the time I was done we
were a 'desirable clique'...*shrug* go fig.
    SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: my only real problem with my Jr/Sr years was that all of my
    friends were graduated
    SkyeDS: they closed campus
SkyeDS: and lunch went to half an hour from an hour
evile: So how can I apply that principle to grownup life...that's all
    I wanna know.
SkyeDS: so it was culture shock
SkyeDS: well, that's what I call the Office Space paradigm
SkyeDS: you learn not to give a damn
SkyeDS: and that makes it somewhat better
evile: yup. It usually helps not to care & to just give up. And not
think too hard about not caring and having given up.
evile: Having internet malfunctions. Not sure if ICQ is still up or
    not?
    SkyeDS: yep
    evile: bi zarre.
evile: I could live without most of it, but no launchcast is kinda
    suckin'.
    SkyeDS: :(
evile: I have my emergency CD stash, stuff I didn't take home when my
CD/radio quit working & I switched over to the internet radio thing.
SkyeDS: I have my cds in the truck
SkyeDS: and a cd drive for this laptop
evile: Never hurts to have a backup.
evile: I got my reservations for Pythia Dust for tonight & Dark
Goddess on the 20th :) Now I just need to get my res "Getting Off" on
the 28th and that will take care of my Theatre fix for a long while :)
SkyeDS: i haven't even been to movies in months
    evile: bummer!
evile: Okay, now my web stuff is back & running. Wonder what that was
all about... Glad I didn't have to reboot.
SkyeDS: seems like lc comedy doesn't have cosby's himself
    SkyeDS: that's weird, imo
evile: I've found a few like that. Maybe a licensing/copyright issue.
SkyeDS: they have a Kevin Pollack though and I love him
SkyeDS: and Jeff foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White and Larry the
    Cable Guy
evile: They don't have Bill Hicks :(
    SkyeDS: they don't? :(
SkyeDS: and i bet Robin Williams and George Carlin are launchcast plus
evile: I get Robin Williams & George Carlin...but almost every single
RW bit that they've played for me so far was either about
drugs/alcohol OR sprogging. Neither of which I find humorous.
evile: Maybe Robin Williams doesn't have any other material, but I
could have sworn I used to think he was funny.
SkyeDS: his broadway 2k was funny
evile: I knew stations were 'regular' and 'paid' but I didn't realize
some artists might be restricted to the paying customers. That kinda
    sucks
SkyeDS: they have adult comedy, and that's pay only
    evile: hm. suck!
evile: There's some OK stuff at the discount movies. Gothika (haven't
seen yet, but how can you go wrong with Halle Berry in a scanty
hospital gown), Elf (hilarious). Runaway Jury (John Cusack!)
    SkyeDS: that does look good
evile: Lawyer drama is not my thing, but I can watch just about
anything with John C. And Gene Hackman is a great actor, too.
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: that kind of settles that
SkyeDS: sharon just came by, and I talked her into signing my time
    sheet
    SkyeDS: which says 5:30
    evile: sweet!
SkyeDS: and had the pleasure of telling her that I have a job offer
    for permanent starting Monday
    SkyeDS: <smirk
    evile: awesome!
SkyeDS: so now I can do what I damn well want with door locked rest
    of day
    evile: hee :)
    evile: naked time?
    SkyeDS: ROFL
SkyeDS: you are much more creative than me
SkyeDS: I never think of such things
evile: I did that once at WGRE. thankfully before the hidden security
    cameras were installed.
    SkyeDS: omfg, tff
evile: That would have been traumatic for me & stepdad both, I think :P
evile: Just by way of illustrating "Boys Are Dumb"--I announced over
the air that I was broadcasting topless & got so many drunk frat boys
calling, it was unbelievable. What difference did it make? I was on
    the RADIO.
    SkyeDS: LOL
SkyeDS: first time I've heard GreenDay
    SkyeDS: I like
evile: I like some of it, maybe 3-4 songs from "Dookie".
evile: Launchcast introduced me to Dropkick Murphys--celtic rock.
    Totally awesome.
SkyeDS: I will look for that
evile: bagpipes & punk rock. What's not to like :)
    SkyeDS: you'd like maggie drennon
evile: I've seen the name, not sure if I've heard anything.
SkyeDS: used to be Ceili's Muse
    SkyeDS: georgeous woman
    SkyeDS: georgeous voice
SkyeDS: flirted with me once and I was oblivious
    evile: aww. I hate that!
    SkyeDS: yep
    evile: Oh well, it happens.
evile: I usually never get flirting unless it's the totally smarmy
repulsive kind ,and then of course I run the hell away.
    SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: I don't get it if I'm not being treated like meat, ditto
SkyeDS: fair warning, if you're listening to my station, there is
    country mixed in
evile: Speaking of sleazy, someone emailed me offlist from the poly
list, re: "Getting Off " on the 28th. Wanted me to introduce him to
    the 'poly lifestyle'...yeah, right.
    SkyeDS: ???
evile: I have some country on mine. Mostly Dixie Chicks, but some
    other stuff here & there.
evile: I have no problem going someplace public with a big group of
people & not knowing everyone in the group, but anything beyond
    that...forget it.
SkyeDS: that's like the people online who think open marriage = sleep
    around at will
evile: It doesn't happen too often, but it always kinda freaks me
when I get an offlist smarmy reply to something I post in the Austin
    Poly yahoo group.
SkyeDS: or, open marriage = I sleep with anyone who asks me just
    because they ask
evile: I wasn't that easy even when I was single, and I doubt any
    woman is!
    SkyeDS: no shit!
SkyeDS: I have a stock answer now
SkyeDS: yes, I'm poly, pagan, bi curious, sex positive and frisky
SkyeDS: fuck no I won't sleep with you
    SkyeDS: go play in traffic
    evile: heh.
SkyeDS: moses from singing in the rain lol
SkyeDS: I sang it to Arthur in front of mom once
SkyeDS: she thought i came up with it by myself and got all excited
about me being the next dr seuss
    evile: aww!
SkyeDS: I'm like, um no, it would be nice, but that's from singing in
    the rain
evile: Writing songs is definitely harder than it looks.
    SkyeDS: I can't write music
evile: I'm always fairly agonized by the 'lyrics' that a lot of f/sf
authors put in the mouths of their 'bards' and whatnot. Or the crap
that Anne Rice had Lestat sing for that matter. gawd
SkyeDS: most sf sex scenes make me laugh
evile: I can't think of any right off hand. McCaffrey's are usually
too rape-ish, and that's personally repugnant to me.
SkyeDS: fantasy writers usually are better written than pure sci fi
SkyeDS: image of the beast (farmer) was well enough
SkyeDS: as was the illuminatus trilogy
evile: That guy is a freak. (PJ Farmer)
    SkyeDS: but generally speaking
evile: I can't think of any particulars, so you're probably right.
SkyeDS: don't have to be at work till 9 am monday
SkyeDS: black water on the radio
    SkyeDS: life is good
evile: I hope you really have a nice weekend -- you deserve it!
evile: Do you think you'll be at Pease park on Sat? I still have some
    stuff to give you.
    SkyeDS: intended to be
evile: Assuming I can weasel out of camping, I'll try and stop by.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Sweetie's theory is that the Saturday low of 32 is going to be
    tonight/tomorrow a.m. and not Sat nite/Sun a.m.
    SkyeDS: ...ok...
SkyeDS: well, any low under 40 at any time means no outside for us.
    evile: sounds good to me.
evile: I just can't get warm again after my feet get cold, and that's
going to happen if I'm outside. Where's the fun in that?
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: I do want to get out to Pace Bend, and I'll even spring for an
Annual Pass, but not until it's warmer
SkyeDS: you said it was cheaper by carful (like flea market)
    evile: yup.
SkyeDS: we'll go in with you too when gets warmer
evile: I don't know if the Annual Pass is tied to a licence plate or
    a drivers license.
evile: But if it's tied to a license plate, it would make the most
sense to me to get one for the Vanagon. Certainly not for the leaser
that is going home in April.
    SkyeDS: nods
evile: Jason, the VW guy that Sweetie camps with, says he tried to buy an
annual pass and they blew him off. So I don't know what that was all
    about. We'll see.
    SkyeDS: ??
evile: Apparently they gave him some story about how they didn't have
the form, and then something about how they didn't sell them during
peak use times of the park, bla bla. Who knows.
evile: Lazy Public Servant syndrome, more than likely :P I've seen it
    firsthand, I know it exists.
SkyeDS: like the head of PARD doesn't know how to give me a permit
evile: more like can't be bothered to find out how to do it since it
    happens so rarely.
SkyeDS: launchcast being nice to me today
evile: Talula is a wretched beast. Then again, I'm having Major
    Mercury Retrograde-itis.
SkyeDS: I don't remember which one she is
evile: I don't know if you've met her or not. She is the one who
came to my last D'ween party and didn't socialize & wanted me to
turn on the lights so she could bead. ALSO she dated & dumped my
friend Stephanie, did the 'lets be friends' speech and hasn't called
or emailed Stephanie since. She is not on my "good" list.
    SkyeDS: I would think not
evile: She just started swingin' on my nuts for suggesting the State
Cemetary as a point of interest for someone coming from out of state.
    SkyeDS: I would think that
    SkyeDS: and Oakwood closeby
    evile: http://www.evite.com/viewPict?pictID=YMXJGDTVFIGUTYYIETOF
She is the girl in the orange blouse on the right.
    SkyeDS: nods
    SkyeDS: what's wrong with cemetaries
evile: I wasn't suggesting that the Poly Group go dress up in black
and be gloomy in the cemetary, I was attemmpting to point out to mr
KKK Wizard dude that the East side has some attractions besides
    criminals and drugs
evile: And answer the original poster's question re: things to do/see
in Austin when visiting from out of state.
SkyeDS: I thought about answering that post
SkyeDS: but then I thought na, someone will do better than I would
evile: Well, other than KKKWizard's "stay out of the east side" and
backlash, and my "east side cool stuff" I don't think anybody
actually has come up with any answers to the original question.
Internet communication always sucks, but I think the merc. retro. is
    making it worse than usual.
SkyeDS: it's so hard to answer that question
SkyeDS: without knowing what they're interested in
SkyeDS: there's so much to do
evile: Yeah, I wouldn't know where to start if I only had 4 days in
Austin. Or any city for that matter.
SkyeDS: bugs me, a little, that I'm leaving this place the way I am
SkyeDS: meaning nice neat and much better organized than the shit I
    walked into four weeks ago
SkyeDS: my successor is going to have it MUCH better than I did
evile: That's what you were paid to do. Why be bugged?
    SkyeDS: I know
evile: No, YOU are going to have it much better than your
replacement, because you aren't going to have to deal with psycho
    hosebeast & her crew.
    SkyeDS: also true
evile: I'd just call it a day & move on, not worry about that place
or the people in it or the work that is or isn't done...not worth
    your energy.
evile: sad, but true: the thing that annoys me about Talula Rachel is
that she is pretty similar to me at the same age (late teens early
20s)- selfish, shallow, flighty, and not quite as bright and
entertaining as she thinks she is but still prone to chirpy comments
that annoy people who actually ARE as smart as they think they are.
evile: There's a mirror I don't care to look into...
SkyeDS: kind of like the Charlie character in High Fidelity
SkyeDS: (which cuts too close to the quick for me too)
evile: I saw that movie, but I don't remember it much.
evile: Oh, right, the Catherine Zeta Jones character. Vapid socialite
    hipster wannabe.
    SkyeDS: right
    evile: ergh.
SkyeDS: same character she played in America's Sweethearts too (also
    Cusack movie)
evile: I liked that one. Even awful Julia Roberts.
    SkyeDS: I liked the Grifters
    SkyeDS: dark but good
    evile: Never saw it.
SkyeDS: Anjelica Houston (but blonde, ick)
    evile: ew
evile: We had a poster for that movie in the break room at Bookstop.
    SkyeDS: was good (just dark)
evile: with that cast, how could it NOT be good?
    SkyeDS: yep
evile: I should add it to the endless list of things I need to watch.
    SkyeDS: <queen of endless lists>
evile: got a few of 'em myself.
evile: Christian Death followed by BB King. um...no.
    SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: launchcast is funny in its pairings tho
    SkyeDS: poison/ronnie milsap
evile: yup. I wish there was a way to pick a specific play list.
SkyeDS: have to pay to do that...the moods thing
    SkyeDS: didn't you do that?
evile: I did set up a couple of "moods" but they didn't keep my
    interest for very long.
evile: I may do the far side of 6th st. tomorrow after I work my paid
    OT. mmm...shopping.
SkyeDS: I haven't spent any of my slave wages on anything non
    necessary yet
evile: You should definitely do at least *one* thing for just you
    this weekend.
evile: I've gotten much better about impulse buying, but I have also
realized it's important to have a little splurge every now and again.
evile: Anyhoo, it's about time for me to make the rounds & get rid of
    paper.
    SkyeDS: yep
evile: Have an excellent evening & a good weekend. Maybe see ya
    tomorrow :)
    SkyeDS: HUGS yep
evile: *hugs* back at ya! :)
    SkyeDS: :)_
