I checked out "Orlando" from the library on Tuesday. I'd wanted to
see it for awhile. I watched it last night. That was my contribution
to Transgender Day of Rememberance, I guess. The vigil started at
6:30 last night and I didn't get home from work until after 6. I get
horribly lost at UT, not to mention never finding parking, so I
didn't go to the public demonstration.
Gorgeous costume flick. Not as cool with the
man/woman/feminist/whatever message, but I liked the movie overall.
There was a neat song at the end. Here are the lyrics:
Orlando (Movie Soundtrack)
Coming
[sung by Jimmy Summerville (sp?)]
I am coming! I am coming!
I am coming through!
Coming across the divide to you
In this moment of unity
Feeling an ecstacy
To be here, to be now
At last I am free
Yes at last, at last
To be free of the past
And the future that beckons me
I am coming! I am coming!
Here I am!
Neither a woman, nor a man
We are joined, we are one
With the human face
We are joined, we are one
With the human face
I am on earth
And I am in outer space
I'm being born and I am dying
