SkyeDS: happy belated birthday :-)
evile: Hey, thanks :) What are you doing?
SkyeDS: getting ready to go drop off a resume "in person only" to a
company I've applied to no telling how many times before, lol. Sup?
evile: Are you still doing the security gig?
SkyeDS: nodnod, M-W. Someone they're still trying to fire came back
after FMLA so they had to give her two days and they gave her two of
mine (since I'm low man on the totem pole).
SkyeDS: when she quits I expect to get them back.
evile: cool. But in the meantime, no harm in continuing your search :)
SkyeDS: as it is, gives me two days to interview and such.
evile: That's pretty cool.
evile: I havent' managed to coagulate a plan with anyone, but I'm
hoping to leave Austin for faire by 8 on Saturday a.m.
SkyeDS: after examining the state of finances after my first paycheck
came in, and given that I am late vaccinating the horses this year
($60+) and extraordinarily late getting them trimmed (another $60) I
might have to wait to go until after my next paycheck, and go on my
birthday.
evile: Final weekend is 31st-1st.
SkyeDS: in that case I may not be able to go this year :( I can't
even put it on a card, since those are reserved for gas/emergencies
evile: yup. Scarby will still be there next year. I missed it last
year due to finances & this year is just as fun (maybe a little more)
SkyeDS: I know I looked forward to it more when I used to alternate
years between Scarbie and Schlitterbahn. (not that I couldn't do both
in the same year, but in re my birthday)
evile: right.
evile: I'd like to try staying at the resort some year & not having
to do the 'dead tired drive' from New Braunfels to Austin :)
SkyeDS: nodnod
evile: A bunch of the drunk white trash rennies are doing a big
campout in June at the Lazy L&L, which is where I got the idea to
suggest it to HFS.
evile: I don't mind camping with the drunk white trash rennies after
a long day at TRF, but I am not sure the 'vibe' would be the same
just going out to camp/tube with 'em?
SkyeDS: loves tubing, not sure about the company though, never having
met them
evile: I don't know most of 'em except by sight. Not on speaking
terms or anything.
SkyeDS: to an extent I am friendly until given reason not to be (with
the exception of the bird and the horses, and I'm sorry if people
think I am not giving enough, but I can't help it if I try to explain
and they don't understand).
evile: Well, I'll be happy to forward the info. I think it's
midsummer weekend, though, so I may end up having other plans.
SkyeDS: guess I need to find out where Catrysa's having SS's
midreign. Was hoping for Casa Blanca (where the horses could go.)
evile: Falcon Dam State park. I have no idea where that is...
evile: Aunt L. told me that somewhere over in the touristy part of the
Capitol Complex, there's a bunch of info cards on every state park in
TX. I am compiling a set of cards just like that, with winery &
hotsprings & other notable sites of interest, so I need to go get me
a set :)
evile: Here ya go: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/falcon/
SkyeDS: the official parks website is pretty good. there are 12
state parks that allow horses I don't remember Falcon being one of
them
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: it's apparently close to Casa Blanca (close, but no cigar).
And it's too far away to drive just for the day with Arthur.
evile: yeah.
SkyeDS: tee hee, @ "trail etiquette"
SkyeDS: # Never pass too close to a horse; try to keep a six-foot
buffer zone.
# If the horse's ears are flattened all the way back, the horse is
irritated and may kick.
evile: ? common sense, I would think. Ah well. Never hurts to spell
it out.
SkyeDS: very good idea to spell it out, I just think it's funny.
SkyeDS: in an obvious, Jeff Foxworthy kind of funny way.
evile: I found out that I might be able to ride Australian saddle on
the Loire valley trip. Now to scrape together a couple grandso I can
actually do it....:P
SkyeDS: "if a horse has its ears flattened, is breathing fire from
its nostrils or its eyes are rolled back in its head, and its feet
come up off the ground, you may be about to be kicked into next year."
SkyeDS: Australian western, or Australian english?
evile: They had both. :)
SkyeDS: Aussie saddles are neat.
SkyeDS: chaos seems to be down, and I'm not finding anything about
silver spire on yahoo... *grumble*
evile: dang. It's always down. stupid site.
SkyeDS: wonder if it permanently bit the dust because of lack of
funding this time
evile: No, it said it was paid thru June, last I checked. In a
perverse little way, I hope it does go down for good, so that the HFS
will have to get off their asses and do something instead of just
whining.
evile: I suggested moving everything to a yahoo group. :wahh, you
cant do this on a yahoo group, you can't do that on a yahoo
group. ...1) well, yes, you can, but you actually have to make some
effort and 2) the info you are citing isnt' kept up to date on
hfsinchaos ANYWAY, so what's the point of having those tables if
nobody's gonna maintain them?
SkyeDS: why I keep resisting the urge to be anything but a satellite,
as great as the temptation sometimes is (I have been told by those
who know that I should be a Regent).
SkyeDS: I don't need the HFS to go riding in garb, ya know?
SkyeDS: there's always Amtgard, SCA, and I'm just crazy enough to go
out in garb, all by my little self.
evile: Yeah. It sucks, but your efforts above & beyond wouldn't be
appreciated and you'd end up getting burned out. So why not just
enjoy it on the level that brings most enjoyment & least stress.
SkyeDS: I patiently explained that yes, I have an excellent
administrative and creative mind, and I probably would make a good
Regent. That being said, does not mean I want to be regent or would
enjoy it, just because I have the talents to do it.
evile: Yup.
SkyeDS: although if people aren't going to post about events on yahoo
and chaos is down how the hell are we supposed to figure it all out...
evile: Yeah, I hate having to post the same shite 12 times just to be
sure to inform everyone. But if that's what must be done, cut and
paste isn't rocket science. I did that with the tubing thing.
Sharjinka is good about doing that with the in-character storyline
stuff.
SkyeDS: Jinx lives and breathes HFS.
evile: Bless her heart. She gets too attached to stuff & gets too
upset when things don't work out.
SkyeDS: at CRW, it looked like I could really get into writing
stories and doing bardics and hanging out with wonderful peoples.
Now it's all politics or just about, everywhere I look. Staci seems
a lot happier but I"m sure that's the prozac talking.
evile: Hey, man, whatever gets you thru the night...
SkyeDS: it works wonders, when it works. I just wish doctors would
be more careful with it. Anyway, I am happy for her.
evile: Effexor made me sleep and sleep, but whenI was awake, I had
enough psychic padding that I could figure out what the real problems
were in my life and what was self-created/self-inflicted. It was
helpful. I wouldn't stay on it for life, but it got me out of the
hole.
SkyeDS: when all I wanted was to sing with people, adn write stories
with people, and hang out in garb (with the children occasionally) I
don't know how I ended up landed right in the middle of the mire.
evile: Get enough people together, even creative, wonderful, smart,
sensitive, adorable people, and they turn into a mob.
SkyeDS: should just get blinders. WAnna write stories? Cool :) Wanna
make music? Cool :) Wanna hang and play? Cool :) Anything else, no,
don't see that, it isn't there.
evile: Yeah...it's possible you could just establish a very firm
boundary with people, and when they start talking politics you could
just smack 'em with something or walk away or gently remind them that
you're not interested. It would take a lot of remnders, but maybe
eventually people would quit trying to drag you into stuff.
evile: I usually put on a good bimbo act, do the Barbie "Politics is
hard!" thing and people leave me out of it.
SkyeDS: that would take much cultivating on my part but might be well
worth it, or some similar strategem.
evile: I think it also helps that I don't show up to much of anything
consistently so nobody really knows whose 'side' I may be on (none of
them)
SkyeDS: <owlish blink> I don't know <ala Bill Cosby's brain damaged
offspring>
evile: Oh! Speaking of amusing politics,I got a 6 page front & back
letter from CMA about some crazy political bS going on out there. I
laughed & laughed.
SkyeDS: really? do tell
evile: I saved it for you, in case you know any of the parties
involved &/or would find it amusing
SkyeDS: when I finally quit going to the CMA, I stopped and looked
around and realized of all the people I went there to see, I was just
about the only one there anymore.
evile: It made very little sense to me, considering I only attended 1
CMA event and was not terribly welcomed. Apparently one group of CMA
folks thought that the board of directors was illegally elected, so
they illegally appointed themselves the 'interim' board.
SkyeDS: I don't know if I'd know any of them now...but I am always up
for a good laugh regardless
SkyeDS: ROFL
SkyeDS: that soudns just like them
SkyeDS: ROFL
evile: And then there was some sort of calling of authorities and
various people pointing to various other people and telling the cops
to arrest one another.
SkyeDS: serves them right...my favorite curse always was, may you get
exactly what you deserve.
evile: And then there was some sort of kitchen-sink issue with a pond
on the property, that I really didn't see had anything to do with
anything, but apparently got lots of people stirred up...WTF.
SkyeDS: that's too fucking funny, for words.
evile: Anyway, I've saved the letter, I'll have to remind myself to
bring it out to HFS one day for you.
SkyeDS: see, they should just get together at the Omni on the 3d
floor and have rituals with the potted plants.
evile: And I should continue to be a solitary, because then I have
nobody to blame but myself when things suck!
SkyeDS: I enjoy being solitary when I can point my finger at people
who have caused me grief in some way and laugh.
SkyeDS: childish I know
SkyeDS: besides, being solitary, I can come and go from their little
public get togethers (at NM or wherever) as I like.
evile: yup.
evile: I enjoy the gatherings at the Vortex more, I think.
SkyeDS: and, I'm far enough away that even if they did know that I
have a perfect place for large outdoor rituals and revels, I can't
imagine people driving out here. Although the reaction of Uncle Levi
and Cousins Harold and Fandy, revival preachers all, would be quite
amusing.
evile: hee.
SkyeDS: when I can afford to buy Harold and fandy out of their 8
acres w/ pond, I'm going to have a good sized nice place, and then I
can afford to do more of what I want, by way of establishing a
boarding/training facility and other extracurricular activities. As
it is, I try not to do anything in their faces lest I find my house
in ashes one day.
evile: yup.
evile: Oh, I meant to tell you: Sweetie & I found a castle last night,
less than 10 min. drive from our house. It's very freaky. Ugly...but
freaky-cool.
SkyeDS: I have an arbor in front of the bay windows that is taller
than the house, and it surrounds half of a nine foot or better circle
naturally.
SkyeDS: castle where?
evile: Out towards hutto on...Ferguson rd (?) I dunno, Sweetie was
driving.
SkyeDS: sineater was talking about planting privacy hedges around it to
make it a full circle, keeping it mowed inside, and being able to do
whatever, without being seen by those who constantly go up and down
our driveway at all hours.
evile: sineater is a smart guy. That sounds like a good idea.
SkyeDS: nods
SkyeDS: as it is, the next time I want to do something outside, I'll
probably just circle the trucks and the trailer so they can't see
past.
evile: I have a very good sense of direction when I'm driving. I can
remember driving people home once when I was in HS and being able to
find their houses again for the rest of the school year. But when I'm
not driving, forget it. I'm going out to take photos of the castle
one of these days.
evile: "You know you're a redneck pagan when..."
SkyeDS: I just have no desire for some reason to be outside skyclad
with the prehistoric Texas dinoskeeters. I must acquire some
citronella or something besides deepwoods off, which is not pleasant
all over skyclad
SkyeDS: :P~~~~~
evile: yeah. Avon 'skin so soft' supposedly repels bugs...I dont'
care for its scent either, but some people do.
SkyeDS: whatever it is will have to be pleasant enough to go on the
entire bod, and wash off easily afterwards.
evile: I also saw this bracelet-thing at Target last summer that has
a little watch battery in it, supposedly you wear it and it emits
some noise that repels bugs. It was like $9, and I didn't feel like
shelling out at that time,though.
SkyeDS: kind of annoying to still have to worry about what the
neighbors would think.
evile: The avon stuff is meant to be used either as a bath oil or an
after-bath moisturizer, so I imagine it washes off OK.
evile: yeah...f'in neighbors...
SkyeDS: but we have to, as I keep telling sineater, because of "dead
horses, dead bird, no house"
evile: yup.
evile: Our backyard isn't bad if I go out late enough at night. If
the people across the creek can see me,they haven't said anything yet.
SkyeDS: I don't think it would be an issue here if they weren't on
the drive way back and forth at all hours.
evile: wierd. You'd think country people would be all 'early to bed &
early to rise' & stuff.
SkyeDS: when I can afford to buy harold and fandy out the very first
thing I'm doing is fencing off the entire driveway from 306 to 79,
and that's the end of that.
evile: Sounds good.
SkyeDS: these aren't country people, these are poor white trash
driving the rest of the country folk out here crazy with their trashy
ways.
evile: yucko.
SkyeDS: of course, if they do drive down the driveway one night and
see something they don't want to see, maybe they should look in
another direction. Or consider using my driveway at more reasonable
hours.
evile: true enough.
SkyeDS: both sides of the family on either side of me are in massive
violation of deed restrictions anyway, living in travel trailers.
evile: yuck.
SkyeDS: and Uncle Levi built this for lack of a better word attempt
at a military frame cabin type tent, which the ice storm ripped to
shreds that he's just left hanging there.
evile: how awful!
SkyeDS: when I ride down the road of an afternoon the rest of the
neighbors continually ask me questions about Uncle Levi and Harold
and Fandy, they are all most displeased (can't say as I blame them,
and it's worse for me, living between them).
SkyeDS: brb need to make a quick phone call.
evile: ok.
evile <evile@freaks.net>
May 22, 2003
evile: ok.
SkyeDS: back. wanted to say bye, on the way out to the bank and into
town
evile: Okeydoke! Have a safe trip!
SkyeDS: <hugs> journey safely. Ciao, bella :)
evile: *hugs*
