I don't know why I expected anything different

Back...April-ish, I told e. that I wanted to see Star Trek *on my birthday*. She said "Can I come?" and I said "of course!"

A week ago, once I'd posted the info here in LJ, I emailed her the same info, when where, what time, etc.

Tonight, I get her reply:

Of course she saw it already, probably opening night. Even after I told her I was saving Star Trek for my birthday because that's what I *really wanted to do* ever since I found out about it and she gave me the impression she wanted to see it with me.

So, like I said, I'm done with e. Vague acquaintance status has been reached. But of course there's still that fucked up lonely goofball idiot 18 year old inside me who bonded with her at Tulane who is hurt and doesn't understand this wierd kind of superficial girl-friendship. It seems so normal and apparently satisfying to e, but it just makes me feel bad.

*hug* Honey, stop doing any of the work. Stop emailing her to tell her about stuff. And see if she comes to you and makes the effort. Otherwise, you keep sinking energy into this relationship and feeling guilty when you don't get any return on it.

You could be spending that energy on making new awesome friends, like me! :)

She doesn't seem to keep others in mind very well, but aside from just not getting involved, I don't know how to enjoy her company but avoid the problem.
