evile: Can you believe it's already MONDAY again? How was your
weekend?
SkyeDS: painful
SkyeDS: hence I am going to doctor after work
evile: Sorry to hear it. But hopefully the Dr. will find something to
treat.
SkyeDS: to get prescrip muscle relaxers because auditions for Ex are
saturdeay and I have to be able to sit a hors
SkyeDS: e
evile: That's coming up quick!
SkyeDS: already know what's wrong with me. form of tendonitis known
as Repetitive Strain Injury or Cumulative Trauma Disorder.
evile: yow.
SkyeDS: tell me about all the fun you had this weekend so I can
vicariously enjoy :P
evile: Nothing too exciting. Sweetie went off camping with the VW people
at Pace Bend, I stayed home. Went to the library. Did laundry &
dishes. Spent Saturday in front of the fireplace with a nice fire
going, reading. Went out to Drandmir for a couple hours on Sunday,
Nothing too exciting.
SkyeDS: I haven't been to Pace Bend but it allows equestrians
SkyeDS: tell me about it?
evile: I've never been to pace Bend. I think they have stables where
you can rent horses.
evile: I was after Sweetie for ages to camp out there, and he was always
like "enh, don't wanna" and then the VW people get the wild hair to
go out there in the pouring rain, and he's all like "COOL! I'm
going!". feh.
SkyeDS: why don't you and I go out there and explore some weekend
evile: Oh, and I went to the bellydance show at Austin Yoga. Bad
acoustics--the doumbeks felt like they were drilling through my
head. I left at intermission. Stephanie was sympathetic; she didn't
realize sound could be painful like that.
SkyeDS: sound systems are a minor pet peeve w/ me
SkyeDS: I have never liked the proclivities of most sound set up
people to make things too loud for the size of the venue
evile: Weather is iffy this time of year, but I've got a couple of
free weekends in Feb. I guess we can play Pace Bend by ear
SkyeDS: when it
SkyeDS: s nice
SkyeDS: you might also like McKinney Roughs
evile: No amplification, this was just the sound hitting the walls
and not having anywhere to go.
SkyeDS: there's a new park in Pflugerville that I've driven through
but haven't ridden yet
SkyeDS: and I would like to see Lake Somerville too (but that's way
far away from you, and close somewhat to me)
evile: I always forget there are plenty of places to go & things to
do nearby. I've been trying to get better about that. But my efforts
are sporadic.
SkyeDS: well jesus h f'ing christ, it isn't like you don't already
have enough stuff going on
evile: I dunno about that. I'm bored most of the time :P
SkyeDS: came to the conclusion this weekend that it isn't just ergo
problems, it's the stress level here
SkyeDS: and the doctor will probably tell me , well, you can do
whatever drugwise you have to do to stay there, or leave
SkyeDS: some choice
evile: Yup. it's not much fun to work in a bad atmopshere. But then
again it's always nice to have a roof and food and silly stuff like
that.
SkyeDS: i have never walked off an assignment without completing it
SkyeDS: this would not include however the assignments as a sub when
the class went completely out of control, the top administrators
couldn't get it back into control, I decided I was moot and
superfluous and left.
evile: I can usually put up with just about anything if I have an end-
date in sight.
SkyeDS: I hope to gawd this ends in two months and not six. Whereas
before it started, I wanted it to go as long as possible
evile: Well, now you have at least one other possibility that may
turn FT, so I'm sure that has altered your perspective
SkyeDS: Hugh keeps coming up with possible new projects all of which
would require me full time
evile: That would be cool.
SkyeDS: so I'm going to find some way of gently suggesting to himj
that he make me a full time offer and I will go against my usual
method and give IBM two week notice
evile: Nobody could blame you for ditching a temp gig to go someplace
full time permanent.
SkyeDS: just bugs me to leave 20 an hour for 12 or whatever
SkyeDS: but trips to the doctor and meds will eat up that 20 per
pretty quickyl
evile: exactly. Plus what good is it to have a job that pays well
when you spend your free time sick and miserable because of your job?
SkyeDS: not to mention being incapacitated on days where I want to
frolic in the sun and play with my children
SkyeDS: gmta
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: yesterday was so pretty, and I spent it in bed
SkyeDS: I hate wasting good sunlight
evile: SUCK!
evile: I wish I'd paid more attention Sunday...Chris/Keject is 'in
love'...I bet the object of his affections was one of the 3 gals out
in the park. (I'm so nosey!)
SkyeDS: he's a cute kid
SkyeDS: he has it in hi shead that he's ugly.
evile: Most teenage boys do.
SkyeDS: I hope the object of his affections is worthy of those
affections
SkyeDS: how are goofy and thax?
evile: All 3 of the little girls out at the field were perfectly cute.
SkyeDS: I've seen Lisalotte be weird on Clothier when I pay attention to it
SkyeDS: and Goofy was downright nasty to me last few times I've seen
him
evile: I saw goofy for about 5 seconds, Lisalotte dropped them off and Goof
went straight to the field to fight after saying 'hi' for a sec. Thax
was thax.
SkyeDS: and Thax hasn't behaved like himself lately either (maybe cuz
of L?)
evile: L's new habit is apparently to drop them off at the field
and spend the rest of the day at Northcross playin g Everquest. Thax
says she didn't get home until after midnight last Sunday night. He
seemed a little sad/lonely about that. "Playing computer games is no
way to make babies," I observed.
SkyeDS: there's a reason they call it EverCrack
SkyeDS: just noticed that he isn't as jovial or flirty as I remember
him being
evile: Joe & I were chatting about that. Suicides over getting your
EQ treasure stolen or your EQ character killed.
SkyeDS: but then I wonder if i haven't done something to make Thax
and Goofy change towards me
SkyeDS: Goofy is no big loss, but I'm rather fond of Thax
evile: Other than his comment about L playing EQ till all hours,
Thax seemed about the same.
SkyeDS: EQ suicides sound reminiscent of AD&D suicides.
evile: There's probably more urban legend than reality to it. But
still sad if even one person did it.
evile: Humans are such ornery critters. You see perfectly healthy
able bodied people off themselves for something stupid, and then you
see people bound to wheelchairs, deaf, blind, whatever, who struggle
to live just one more day.
evile: I like L a lot, but her obsessive side is a little much.
SkyeDS: poor Matt.
evile: *shrug* Learning slowly but surely to curb my 'Mr Fixit'
tendencies when it comes to relationships other people have chosen
for themselves.
SkyeDS: I've been called Ms. Fixit
SkyeDS: it wasn't a compliment
evile: exactly. :P
SkyeDS: I think it is the way we express our
maternal/nurturing/protectiveness
SkyeDS: our maternalness is just not normal maternalness
evile: Obviously no human relationship is perfect, because humans
aren't perfect. The thing I try to keep in mind is that these other
people are adults, they have made their choices, they obviously have
needs that are being met by these choices, and who am I to second
guess that?
SkyeDS: sounds much like what Tom said many times about being an adult
SkyeDS: I learned more personally an d professionally from him in
three months than I think I've learned from anyone w/ the possible
exception of the two piano teachers that raised me and loved me more
than my mother
evile: sounds like a smart guy & a good mentor :)
SkyeDS: I should get in touch with him
SkyeDS: should have a long time ago.
evile: *nods* people like that are good to keep.
SkyeDS: some element in BD keeps complaining to every single monarch
in succession either about ARthur or the girls
evile: bizarre.
SkyeDS: and always alternating as to which of them isn't present at
the time
SkyeDS: (to defend themselves by exhibiting their usual exemplary
behavior)
SkyeDS: and since the elements I originally suspected have all left,
that leaves precious few
SkyeDS: not that BD will be any big loss
SkyeDS: like SG park better anyway, more interesting place to ride,
and the SCA group is closer to home and friendlier. So maybe that's
like a divine hint.
evile: Seems like there's a mature, adult way to deal with that, that
isn't being done by any of the people in charge
SkyeDS: I told Kathleen the new monarch the same thing i told Mimi.
SkyeDS: put up a nirvana rope and I'll stay outside of it
SkyeDS: unless you rope off ALL the shade and places to tether the
horses.
SkyeDS: Arthur and the girls are ALWAYS restrained. And Arthur is
NEVER unattended.
SkyeDS: we have NEVER told people that he doesn't bite (and that's a
damn stupid question anyway. all animals bite in certain
circumstances)
SkyeDS: either that's enough or it isn't.
SkyeDS: but this "someone I'm not going to name has asked me to say
something to you" is why I left drandmir
SkyeDS: I am NOT hard to talk to. they should bring it to me.
evile: exactly.
evile: And if the monarch didn't want to mediate between you and
whoever, they could always put the issue to a vote and let majority
rule.
SkyeDS: nods. this would be why there isn't much left of the kingdom
evile: sad. But that's pretty much to be expected.
SkyeDS: even if there weren't other HFS kingdoms, and even if there
weren't Amtgard and the little SCA shire at home, I can wear garb and
go riding all by myself. I'm just that weird. I don't need a group.
evile: true, but it's always nice to see friends.
SkyeDS: aye but i don't want to make the mistake I did with cma
SkyeDS: staying past when my friends leave
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: I joined BD to see aeris, travis, robbie and marcu
SkyeDS: all of whom are gone now
SkyeDS: new people I met in BD that I liked seeing have also fled
(David, Kit - aka WereBear and Vallen)
evile: That's a long trip & a lot of work to spend time with people
who would rather not have you &/or your critters around
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: and I've got other commitments
SkyeDS: Excalibur if we make it in
SkyeDS: Eeyore's
evile: Excalibur will probably be a big time-eater. I know Scarby
rehearsals take up every weekend for months before faire even opens.
SkyeDS: I am not as involved in as many things as you, but i tisn't
like I don't have other places to be if I look for them
SkyeDS: nods
evile: There are always places to go & things to do. Why spend time
with crappy people?
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: and I told Kathleen and Andy both that I get rather tired.
SkyeDS: no, I don't sign in, what point, I'm color
SkyeDS: sixth level color, woo fucking hoo
SkyeDS: and no I don't pay dues or vote
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: and no I don't battle game
SkyeDS: but it isn't like I don't do squat
SkyeDS: I participate, not ONLY in the HFS< but I represent the HFS
to the community
SkyeDS: arguably as much or more than anyone else
SkyeDS: I go to madrigal, great opportunity for us, and does anyone
go with me other thna Aeris and sonar0m?
SkyeDS: no.
SkyeDS: I go to Ingleside, does anyone go with, no
SkyeDS: bet no one goes to excalibur either
SkyeDS: I mean, not with me, not to respresent the HFS
SkyeDS: and they are none too thrilled with the new money making
offers for eeyore's either
evile: Jose & some others went to Excalibur the year I vended.
There's a photo of them someplace, standing in front of my booth
SkyeDS: I offer to throw revels and night ditches and what not at my
place, and no one bothers
SkyeDS: so I'm tired. from now on, I will post to boards what I'm
doing, and that's the end of the invites.
SkyeDS: other than the standing invitations to you and Jinx.
evile: Yeah, I have that same problem. Not just in HFS, but life in
general. I used to send out emails to everyone I knew, "hey, here's
this cool band, here's this awesome performance, here's this great
restaurant" and nobody ever responded. Now I go alone or I don't go
at all. Don't bother with any people. You get tired of being ignored.
SkyeDS: I can't get anyone to participate with me in community
activities or even go with me to HFS events in other kingdoms. But
people from time to time follow me to dinner after the park and then
my nice quiet dinner turns into a circus. because nobody can agree
on where to go.
SkyeDS: and then I'm sitting at this table with more than half a
dozen people, having to play hostess because I feel bad if someone
looks left out or uncomfortable
evile: I guess that's my problem. I have already set the schedule for
the evening, and if people either can't keep up or don't want to do
what I've already decided to do, I don't give a rat's ass. My way or
the highway, prett much.
SkyeDS: nods. I need to grow thicker skin like that. I've needed
thicker skin since birth.
evile: Well, it's still hurtful, but it isn't productive to let
people know they are being hurtful. Because they go "oh, I didn't
know that I was hurting your feelings" and then the next time the
situation comes up, they slap me in the face again.
SkyeDS: I just don't understand why from time to time everyone
follows me around expecting me to be leader
SkyeDS: and then when I try to lead by consensus building and
invitation, it doesn't work
evile: enh, people suck.
SkyeDS: and then there's the:
SkyeDS: I tell people for weeks in advance, hey, I'm going to the X
Kingdom event in Dallas/SA, wherever, on X date"
SkyeDS: or hey, I'm going to the YMCA fair taht uses Arthur in tehir
ads
SkyeDS: or INgleside or Ex or whatever
SkyeDS: and then when I'm not at t he park, the next weekend
SkyeDS: "so where were you? the rumor has it that you quit"
evile: feh. It would be good if people would actually use any of the
various calendars available to show events & such.
SkyeDS: as you have aptly pointed out on more than one occasion, more
than one "one stop" site is a PITA
evile: yup.
evile: I've even tried to share my yahoo calendar with people, and
that hasn't helped.
SkyeDS: this stress thing with my neck illsutrates to me that I need
to do something about my priorities and developing a thicker skin
SkyeDS: I'd rather have migraines.
evile: Neither is good.
evile: Even having a livejournal where I can go in day-by-day and
say "Here's what I'm going and what I'm doing" I don't get a
tremendous response, but a little better than emailing people.
SkyeDS: lol I can't imagine anyone would ever read an online journal
of mine even if I wrote it
evile: It's fun. I'm not as compulsive as I used to be in updating &
tend to keep things more private these days, both to avoid drama on
the off chance that someone gives a rats ass, and because I realized
that most people sincerely _don't_
evile: Again, it seems pointless to make any effort or put anything
out there when people prove time and again that they are indifferent
to me, my thoughts, feelings, and doings.
SkyeDS: letting other people be my mirror = hurt.
evile: I have my own place to put down my thoughts for my own use, so
that's where most stuff goes now.
evile: I got a good book at the library Sunday, re: emotionally
unavailable people. Was good at identifying behavior, types &
motivations for different types...but not so good at identifying
solutions for dealing with the off-the-grid outright indifference I
seem to encounter
SkyeDS: knowing wha tthe problem is does not inherently solve it.
evile: I'm pretty good at dealing with people who have buttons. Push
button A, get anger. Push button B, get sadness. But I don't know
what to do with people who have no buttons, or give no response when
they're pushed.
SkyeDS: me and my buttons are a mess
evile: I suspect that I'm also emotionally unavailable, to a certain
degree. But not to a pathological extent, I don't think.
SkyeDS: lovely
SkyeDS: that's going to go over well
evile: ?
SkyeDS: BD midreign is the first weekend of Excalibur
SkyeDS: oh well
evile: Priorities.
SkyeDS: we might not make it into the cast anyway
evile: one is 'for fun' the other is more of a professional
committment. It wouldn't be any different to miss BD due to having to
work for Hugh or IBM, I wouldn't think.
SkyeDS: but I hope we do
evile: I imagine you will.
SkyeDS: no reason a gypsy kumpania couldn't have joined robin hood
(one of the two themes of the fair this year, along with Ivanhoe)
evile: That's interesting.
SkyeDS: perhaps they learned like TRF that more restrictive themes =
less interest
SkyeDS: TRF early on did not allow any fantasy at all, and now allows
all sorts of fantastic critters
SkyeDS: when I went, they wouldn't let me in as the Unicorn, even as
a patron.
SkyeDS: I need to remake the ears an dhorn, my poor costume is going
on 20 years old now
evile: My last trip to Sharjinka's craft night, I just took all the
little things that needed done & got them all done. sewed buttons,
hemmed, etc.
SkyeDS: all the pieces I need to replace are worn out latex.
SkyeDS: I don't even remember now where I got the very realistic
horse ears. the horn is much easier
evile: There are a couple of places in town that sell liquid latex--
can that be used?
SkyeDS: would have to ask sineater
SkyeDS: but I think the ear pieces are dried and would have to be
complete replaced
evile: bummer.
SkyeDS: but I wonder if he couldn't make a plaster model of them
evile: I don't see why not.
evile: I'd be amused to do some pony play with a unicorn instead of a
regular pony. But that's probably really wrong :P
SkyeDS: I'm more than happy to donate the costume, but I have no
particular in interest in pony play myself.
SkyeDS: I have been led around on a unicorn leash for decades at
faires now and it gets really old
evile: I just like the costume, would not care to be led around &
such.
SkyeDS: as does pictures with children that want to be on my back or
shoulders
evile: eeps! no touchy touchy, evil sprogs!!!
evile: that's why all my faire-wear is either adult/wenchy or
evil/scary. No sprogs!
SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: I seem to draw sprogs
evile: yecch.
SkyeDS: some of whom seem to see witch on my forehead
SkyeDS: and then there are the adults who sense whatever aura I have,
and act like I'm a poisonous snake that might bite
SkyeDS: like MIL's priest, and roving bands of born again Hell's
Angels bikers/evangelicals
evile: heh.
SkyeDS: I don't mind attracting the sprogs.
SkyeDS: I just am in no shape anymore and have no desire anymore to
let them take pictures on my back or shoulders.
evile: I only like my freinds' kids. The rest can fuck right off.
SkyeDS: I'm ok with most kids. except the few that thankfully have
been exceptions so far. like the snotnosed, unsupervised kids that
one Easter at McD's
SkyeDS: sure we told you bout them
evile: yup.ew.
evile: There were some nasty little sproggen at Tan Tan last night,
but I have to give their parents credit; the kids actually ate
Vietnamese food and didn't complain. They still behaved like
crackmonkeys, but gotta credit the 'rents for not raising them on a
mcD's only diet.
evile: We were out with Max, so it's not like the table manners were
much better at our table :P
SkyeDS: lol
evile: And he's loud, too. But at least Max doesn't stand up and
scream "nanny nanny boo boo" at us.
SkyeDS: I remember enjoying Max greatly
evile: he's a good person.
evile: In hindsight, I now see that X was after him for a while.
ew.
SkyeDS: poor Max
SkyeDS: too bad she didn't want Kaleon. I know, bite my tongue, that
would have been beyond nightmarish
evile: Luckily, Max is more clueless when it comes to relationship
vibes than I am.
evile: *laff* she would have taken Kaleon in a heartbeat, if he'd
shown interest and if there had been some way to do it in my presence
without betraying the lie of her 'happy monogamous marriage' nonsense
blather
evile: Or some way to do it behind my back, which I did not give her
and neither did Kaelon
SkyeDS: some people I will never understand...or maybe that's most of
them
evile: Unfortunately, she was raised by a lying drug addict and a
nasty old drunk, so she learned early on that you can't just come out
and ASK for what you want & need, you have to lie and trick people
into doing stuff for you.
SkyeDS: I refer to that as "couldn't come outright and ask for a
glass of water if dying of thirst in the Sahara, would try to
manipulate/trick you out of it?
SkyeDS: err "
evile: Unfortunately, understanding why people are the way they are
1) doesn't fix them and 2) doesn't make them people I want to be
around
SkyeDS: Raven says that Strega are different and set apart and should
not want it otherwise
SkyeDS: and I agree with that
SkyeDS: I've always agreed that I was separate and apart
SkyeDS: I've never wanted it any other way, no matter how much my mom
ragged on me
SkyeDS: but what I don't understand is, I don't want people to go
away mad, just to go away
evile: But it is human primate instinct to be with a pack/herd/tribe.
SkyeDS: why does separate and apart have to include ostracism and
persecutionj, is what I don't get
evile: right.
evile: The other side of the tribe mentality, really.
SkyeDS: there was a time when the wise ones and the shamans were not
persecuted for being separate and apart
evile: But they didn't really exist completely apart, either.
evile: They just had a very specialized function within the group
that precluded participating in most of the normal tribe's daily
stuff.
SkyeDS: nods
evile: brb - time to nuke some lunch.
evile: back.
SkyeDS: wb
evile: I spent the extra buck & got the *really* mixed stirfry
veggies. Good stuff.
SkyeDS: sounds like
SkyeDS: I hope we're closer to a microwave when we move
evile: mushrooms, baby corn, carrots, bamboo shoots, broccoli, snow
peas, squash & zucchini.
SkyeDS: but I think it's in an entirely different building (which
would be even worse than it is now). So I brink ham/cheese/crackers
so I don't have to use fridge or nuke
evile: Our unit pitched in & got a microwave that's back by my
supervisor's desk. It's nicer than the nasty crap-encrusted ones in
the break room. Not really any closer, but nicer.
evile: totally OT - does your Enell have underwire?
SkyeDS: no
evile: shit.
SkyeDS: Skye don't do underwire
evile: I can't live without underwire.
SkyeDS: no dearth of good underwire sources, no doubt
SkyeDS: and i don't know that all enell's don't have them, just the
supersize enell that I wear doesn't
evile: sports bras dont' seem to have underwire or proper bra-type
sizing.
evile: Tina was telling me about hers that did and I can't think of
the brand name. She said she got it at evil w-lm-rt
evile: if/when my finances straighten out, I'm taking English riding
lessons. Dont' want to damage the goods in the process :P
SkyeDS: nods. my friend Traci teaches. She trains with the Olympic
team coaches.
evile: I don't think it's ever going to really happen, but the ride
in France I want to do uses 'english trekking' saddles, whatever
those are. I figure I can brush up on regular riding, take English
riding lessons, and probably do OK
SkyeDS: posting seems to me to be the hardest part of English riding
SkyeDS: and I ride bareback, which requires posting sans stirrups
evile: posting seems really pointless to me. sit down and go is about
my speed. :P
evile: Then again, I'm a proud graduate of the 'sack of potatoes'
school of riding, so...what can I say? I don't know much other than
which end to pet and which end to avoid.
evile: The rest is clever fakery.
SkyeDS: if you learn to be comfortable without a saddle, you won't
have a problem in any kind of saddle.
evile: not true. Keeping my feet properly positioned in stirrups
kills my knees. Just me sitting on a horse and not falling off does
not hurt.
SkyeDS: but should not be problematic to find someone who can teach
you the rudiments of riding English
evile: There are several stables in & around Austin that offer
lessons, plus ACC and UT "informal class" catalogs usually offer at
least one riding selection per semester.
SkyeDS: and if you acquire a used saddle with which to practice, you
have access to horses on which to practice
evile: no point in me owning a saddle of my own--storage space issues
evile: The Chenonceau trip is for 14 riders, 13 are english trekking
saddle, and 1 western. I'd hate to be the nob who ended up having to
use the western :)
evile: It'd be like riding the tour de france on the only bike with
training wheels or something...
SkyeDS: but you are already accustomed to the western <shrug>
evile: No reason I couldn't become accustomed to English. Plus I need
to brush up on riding skills in general, anyway if I end up being
able to swing the France trip.
evile: I rode English a tiny little bit when I was a kid. My aunt
Cora let us all have a turn on her spiffy English saddle, but of
course it was too nice to just turn us kids loose to go off into the
pasture with it.
SkyeDS: Tracie commented after watching me ride bareback that I
shouldn't have any problem learning English.
evile: nah, not if you go bareback a lot. The issue I think a lot of
people have in going western to english is that the saddle is too
small & light & doesn't have enough stuff to hang onto.
SkyeDS: stirrup length
SkyeDS: only thing that keeps you in the saddle are the muscles twixt
knees and thighs
SkyeDS: vastly affected by how long/short stirrups are
evile: are english stirrups longer or shorter?
SkyeDS: shorter
evile: ew. more knee owies
SkyeDS: and stirrups are technically a crutch
SkyeDS: so they shouldn't matter
SkyeDS: but they do
SkyeDS: the oh shit handle is also a crutch
SkyeDS: and on an english saddle, there is no oh shit handle, merely
an oh shit strap
evile: I got hollered at last time I tried to ride without having my
feet in the stirrups. (not with you, elsewhere)
SkyeDS: so things you could do, in the meanwhile, would be to ride
western, minus stirrups at all, and learn to post bareback.
SkyeDS: I ride without the stirrups frequently, I wouldn't fuss at
you for it
evile: I'm so out of shape & out of practice & probably have a few
bad habits I picked up, I probably should start from scratch &
pretend like I dont' know anything.
SkyeDS: if you change your mind about wandering around in a small
round pen bareback let me know.
evile: thanks ;)
evile: Maybe that in conjunction with formal lessons...
SkyeDS: one of the things you'll hear in English lessons
is "independent seat"
SkyeDS: best way to accomplish that as far as whisperers are
concerned (me included) is to start out bareback
SkyeDS: rather than saving bareback for Advanced/Level IV instruction
evile: right.
evile: *sigh* First things first: see how the finances shake out
after turning in the leaser & doing my taxes.
SkyeDS: which reminds me, I need to let Manpower know to send my
forms to my new address.
evile: yeah. That's important :)
SkyeDS: brb
1888Re: icq w/a

SkyeDS: bk
evile: metoo.
evile: a trip to the restroom & water fountain turned into additional
pointless chitchat with coworker. bleh.
SkyeDS: hope new ofc is closer to bathroom at least
evile: that might be a good thing!
evile: So you haven't seen the new space yet?
SkyeDS: some of it. not my part of it.
evile: Hopefully it'll be a nice surprise :)
SkyeDS: only two things I care about - nearby nuke and little girls
room
evile: yup.
evile: I always get tempted at frys by the mini fridges & mini
microwaves. But...for that kind of $, I'd rather buy a wine storage
fridge for home.
SkyeDS: like I need mroe temptations (gems are fascinated by gadgets)
evile: hee. now you tell me....
SkyeDS: we are particularly fond of our kitchen toys
SkyeDS: in my instance, my frydaddy, grill, wok, etc
evile: I try not to get too crazy with the gadgets...but it is
tempting sometimes.
SkyeDS: and all the little toys I would like to have, like a food
processor
SkyeDS: have a food dehydrator somewhere I don't use much
evile: Sweetie hasn't cleaned ours since he used it last. I decided I was
goddamned if I was going to do it, since I didn't even get any of
whatever he made.
SkyeDS: would like to have a rotisserie
evile: yeah.
evile: I don't think I've cooked at all this month so far. ...sad!
SkyeDS: looks guilty
evile: I made mac & cheese on Saturday, and that's the closest I
think I've come to 'cooking' this month.
SkyeDS: no comment
evile: We lived on Decemberween leftovers for the first couple weeks,
and then came the week of 10 hour days, and then last week...*shrug*
who knows. It was a blur.
evile: I can't believe it's the last week of January already. 2004 is
going to be a blur, too, I guess.
SkyeDS: nod
evile: Oh well. Hopefully we'll manage to squeeze in some fun & good
stuff amongst the crap.
evile: The plus side of not having a microwave oven nearby: your
coworkers can't burn popcorn and give you a rotten headache.
SkyeDS: true dat
evile: There's always a plus, somewhere , if you look hard enough :)
evile: ooh, new production at the Vortex. "Pythia Dust"
http://www.vortexrep.org/
SkyeDS: cool
evile: & the next Dark Goddess is next month. That is a seriously
awesome show.
evile: I think I'll try to catch Pythia Dust at the Feb. full moon &
then Dark Goddess 2 weeks later at the new moon. That's handy. Can't
tell Bonnie's a pagan, no no. ;)
SkyeDS: lol
SkyeDS: I think I have pagan or witch or something on my head in ink
that everyone can see but me
SkyeDS: like reverse invisible, or whatever
evile: Well, it's not like you're trying to be 'corporate closet
witch' :P
SkyeDS: actually ... at IBM....lol
evile: right ;)
evile: Well, it's a protected class, so you might as well use it if
it comes up.
evile: It's not anybody's business, but if someone tries to make an
issue of it, you can be sure to ensure that their curiosity bites 'em
in the butt.
SkyeDS: harder to prove religious discrimination than sexual in a
court though
SkyeDS: otherwise I would have gone after SWTSU
evile: yup.
SkyeDS: besides I'm work for hire they can do what they please
SkyeDS: Hugh is representing a holistic doctor that even from my pov
is a nutcase
SkyeDS: and I told him, from the pagan point of view, she's still a
nutcase lol
evile: hee.
evile: unfo, it's the nutcases that get the attention not the normal
examples you can find in any religion/group
SkyeDS: whicdh is too bad, because there is something to be said for
a certain amount of holistic (but NOT homeopathic)
SkyeDS: most people see me as a nutcase I suppose
evile: their loss.
SkyeDS: well, if not being mundane or vanilla makes me a nutcase,
then so it does
evile: 'sane' and 'normal' are fairly overrated qualities, I think.
There are just as many miserable normals as there are miserable nuts.
SkyeDS: however, I don't think I have a problem with grasping reality
SkyeDS: you just hit it on the head
SkyeDS: people equate normal with sane
SkyeDS: not the same at all
evile: true.
evile: brb, bathroom break.
evile: back.
SkyeDS: wb
evile: Successfully avoided coworker entanglements this trip.:P
SkyeDS: lol
evile: I don't think I'd know what to do with myself if I found
myself working somewhere with cool, nice people. I can't even hardly
imagine such a thing.
evile: Now I *know* Launchcast is buggy--it said I didn't have a
rating in for Billy Idol. puh-leez!
SkyeDS: LOL
evile: he's practically in my Pantheon.
SkyeDS: did you like his role in Wedding Singer?
evile: Never saw it. I *hate* Adam Sandler. I keep hearing it was a
great movie...but it will require many beers I think before I
actually sit down and watch it.
SkyeDS: tis the only adam sandler thing I like
evile: I have heard the soundtrack & I like all the music. And I
adore Drew, of course. She's my movie star girlfreind.
SkyeDS: I think you'd like it...for what it is...B entertainment.
SkyeDS: and funny pastiche of the 80s
evile: probably.
evile: I should put it on the list for whenever we're at the video
store going "what you wanna watch? I dunno, what YOU wanna watch?"
SkyeDS: I do enjoy launchcast. great selection the last two days
evile: Yup. A lot of stuff I hadn't heard in ages.
SkyeDS: nodnodnod
evile: Next step I suppose is to get one of those ipod type dealies &
record a few hours of my station sometime.
evile: I miss WGRE. The rest of DePauw could fall into a hole, but I
enjoyed my radio show & having access to all the music & recording
facilities.
evile: The last couple times I've visited Mom & stepdad, I've gotten to
see all the new toys at the radio station. *sigh*
SkyeDS: sineater would enjoy that too
SkyeDS: I'm ahppy anywhere there are books and pianos
evile: yup.
evile: yargh. I love the people who think all state agencies are the
same thing. We get stuff for workers comp all the time, and now today
TDHS. feh.
SkyeDS: most people think all litigators are scum of the earth
SkyeDS: which makes me a minion of scum of the earth
evile: that must be great on the ol' ego
SkyeDS: shrug...I know better
SkyeDS: I know there are scum of the earth litigators out there but
I'vge never met any much less worked for one
evile: Better and better--this was faxed to the state office by a
workforce center. it's like the blind leading the blind down there...
evile: That's just embarassing!
evile: Sadly, most people's generalizations and stereotypes re: state
employees are pretty accurate: bitter, rude, fat, lazy, and stupid
are the majority.
evile: I've got 2 out of 5 at this point. (not 3--I may be personally
lazy, but I am not lazy at work.)
SkyeDS: I am entirely different at work than at home, particularly in
terms of organization
evile: heh. Me too.
evile: Launchcast does not realize that there are two Howard
Jones'....agh.
evile: Erin says there was 'drama' at the Pace party Saturday night.
Glad I missed it!
SkyeDS: wonder what it was
evile: Yeah, I'm curious too, but glad I wasn't there to experience
it firsthand.
SkyeDS: aye
evile: If I get any more info, I'll let you know. Pace has a very odd
assortment of friends & acquaintances, it could have been anything.
evile: If Erin or Pace is at poly dinner Thursday, I'll try &
remember to ask.
evile: brb, gotta take some letters to get mailed.
SkyeDS: might be byond me anyway if I don't know anyone involved
evile: me too, if it was interpersonal squabbling. bleh, boring.
But...if it was something like god-chick freaking out, that's fun no
matter who you do or dont' know.
evile: Okay, maybe not fun, but interesting, anyway.
evile: Well, my dear, your delightful company has brought me to the
end of another otherwise-tedious work day
SkyeDS: :)
evile: wish me luck dealing with the lease manager at gilman subaru
this evening :)
SkyeDS: best of luck always
SkyeDS: and any time you want help with legalese lemme know
evile: Thanks :)
evile: *hugs* have a safe trip home & hope you get to feeling better.
SkyeDS: thankee
