pretty boring. ICQ just dropped. I think I'll leave it off.
evile: hey :) How was your weekend?
SkyeDS: completely unproductive but good. caught up on sleep sat &
sun, saw a movie and went to the melting pot last night
evile: cool. What did you see?
SkyeDS: willy wonka
evile: aha. cool :)
SkyeDS: very behind on movies
evile: Not too much I have really wanted to see this summer. I even
missed the las star wars flick. Jus t couldn't muster the enthusiasm
to go
SkyeDS: I still want to see Brothers Grimm - Zorro and Narnia when
they come out
SkyeDS: and some of the true stories look interesting although I
can't remember the names of them offhand
evile: I wasn't super impressed with BG.
SkyeDS: they're making another Pride & Prejudice
SkyeDS: has Judi Dench in it
evile: Narnia comes out at XMastime, right?
SkyeDS: nods
evile: I love Judi Dench.
SkyeDS: while I think that Alan Rickman would make an ideal Mr.
Darcy, I have to go see Dame Dench.
evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: I thought one of the many good things about searching for
bobby fischer is that it was a true story
evile: I don't think I ever saw that.
SkyeDS: it was very good I thought but ymmv
evile: *nods*
SkyeDS: three of us ate at melting pot last night for $95 (tip incl)
SkyeDS: I thought that was pretty good
SkyeDS: bill = 80.14, 20% tip
evile: *nod*
evile: the GWNN bash is next weekend, also Tablerock. dammit.
SkyeDS: I haven't pinned Stephanie down yet
SkyeDS: talked to Jackie Mills yesterday, who obviously doesn't want
us there
evile: ?
SkyeDS: I'll try to get Stephanie on the phone again when Hugh goes
to lunch
SkyeDS: Jackie Mills = in charge of their Hamlet production, which
runs the weekend before, the weekend of and the weekend after
evile: So, she's not actually in charge of anything related to
tablerock
SkyeDS: I don't really think Hamlet appropriate for a Faire, a nd I
don't see why run Hamlet concurrent with the faire instead of just
before or just after
SkyeDS: but unlike Jackie I keep my unwanted opinions to myself
SkyeDS: I hope she isn't.
SkyeDS: I really can't tell whether she's a faire chief or not.
SkyeDS: all I asked her was, well, look
evile: so who is Stephanie?
SkyeDS: Stephanie's been offering us a tour of the grounds because
she says there are areas we can't see on our own (it is open to the
public)
SkyeDS: I'm having a hard time getting ahold of Stephanie
SkyeDS: so if you're going to be there this afternoon (and she was)
would it be too much for someone to just show us around?
SkyeDS: and apparently it was.
SkyeDS: Stephanie is from what I can tell actually in charge of the
faire itself.
evile: aha
SkyeDS: Ms. Hamlet is concerned about the horses being around the
patrons and the poop. Stephanie hasn't mentioned either of those as
concerns, so I'm not going to worry about it until she does.
SkyeDS: Besides, poop = groundcrew with shovels, big fat hairy deal,
got that covered
evile: sounds like a plan.
SkyeDS: horses around patrons, well, I can ride kids around and
through parking lots away from everyone else, that's not an issue
either
SkyeDS: Ms. Hamlet wanted to take issue with us because we hadn't
attended a faire that's only four years old this year
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: I said, well, we have more than 14 years experience with the
larger, older and better established faires across the state so
surely that counts for something
evile: heehee!
SkyeDS: obviously Ms. Hamlet is not aware that Stephanie already
discussed the horses and what we could and could not do and insurance
with the BOD
evile: If it were me, I would not bother fighting with her unless she
actually had any authority in the faire. Otherwise, it's a waste of
energy.
SkyeDS: yep
SkyeDS: I cut the conversation short with, well, I think I'd best
just stick to talking to Stephanie, do you have her number?
SkyeDS: so it was actually productive, I got her number where I
didn't have it before
SkyeDS: now to get her to answer her phone
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: she posts to the other yahoo groups occasionally
SkyeDS: I vaguely begin to wish I had not mentioned that we would be
vending/performing to the Shire
SkyeDS: that gives Karen and Tracy a chance to badmouth me to the
Faire
SkyeDS: that wasn't bright of me at all
evile: that sucks.
SkyeDS: I don't know that they have, it's just a bad, niggling
feeling t hat I should have kept my mouth shut.
SkyeDS: and just enjoyed the dismay visible in their faces at the
faire.
evile: hang in there...you haven't done anything wrong, so there's
nothing bad to say.
SkyeDS: just because I've never done anything Karen says I have
doesn't mean people won't believe her
SkyeDS: particularly when they don't know her as anything but a big
muckety muck from a respected rengroup like the SCA
evile: *nod* true.
SkyeDS: it was evident in the woman's tone that she has no love lost
for Stephanie, so that might be mutual
SkyeDS: anyway, I'm going to run Stephanie down and see what's what
evile: I hope it works out OK
SkyeDS: if it doesn't, their loss, not ours.
SkyeDS: horses are an integral part of ren faires.
evile: *nod*
SkyeDS: big successful long lasting ones, anyway
SkyeDS: I was very flattered when a Scarby gypsy sought us out to ask
us to audition at Scarby
SkyeDS: (at Ravensloft)
evile: neat.
SkyeDS: good looking man, excellently garbed, flawlessly romany
accented speech with appropriate romany vocabulary all about
SkyeDS: I'm thinkin, you can't possibly be talking about us
SkyeDS: of course, I see his attractive flawlessly garbed self
standing by the gate while I've been in a sand filled arena, in my
sandals because boots were too hot, and a pair of red harem pants
because I was on my period and the skirts were too hot
SkyeDS: and our conversation kept getting interrupted because he
showed up concurrently with the only spate of patrons we had that
afternoon
SkyeDS: he seems to think that although Wispersteppe is predominantly
Kalderash that they wouldn't object to having a Lovara vitsa.
evile: neat :)
evile: Sometime between now and the 17th I need to sew. bleh.
evile: [Cousin B] wants wrap pants. They're easy enough. Maybe I'll teach
him how to sew :P
evile: & Sweetie wants a utilikilt. But I think we'll have Michael
(roninjedi) take care of that--he makes utilikilt knockoffs.
evile: I'm not sure if Sweetie even wants to go to Tablerock. he may be
thinking ahead to TRF
evile: ugh. boss is crawling up our butts about production.
evile: I need to get my state app back from [Aunt L] and start sending it
out. I was really hoping she'd find me some leads, but oh well. I can
do this.
evile: aww! I love Sam (fugaciouslover). She SO rawks.
