Surprise! Happy Birthday! [carrot between happy & birthday] 34
See, I did remember. Think of you often and hope you are doing well
and are happy. I'm doing pretty good for things I have to do. Most
days I feel O.K. Steve goes to Twin Lakes every week-end--I guess
he'll finish the cabin this summer. But it gives him something to
think about. I'm still working in the lodge. Since my little stroke
Cora calls me or I call her every day--
She has lost 40# and feeling better. Spook is on a diet & has lost
almost 100#--I haven't seen him yet--but Cora says he feels better--
Louise & kids went to visit Dan's folks in Mass. at Easter time--
their 1st plane trip.--The kids will start summer vacation next week
with day camp. After that who knows?
Here is a cuple of bucks to get a coke or whatever--at least it will
help.
Love you much

May 21, 2004
I wrote about this in my LJ. Got nice icq chat from Kahlua &
Hoovooloo about it. They think my grandmother is full of crap, too.
Hoovooloo: Bah!
evile: Bah to you too.. :P
Hoovooloo: [Auto Response] I am currently away from the computer.
Hoovooloo: Your grandmother pisses me off too!
evile: heh. Family...can't kill 'em...
evile: I'll get over it soon, I'm sure. Its just a pretty low blow to
send someone a bday card for the sole purpose of insulting them.
Usually I have my guard up better.
Hoovooloo: Yeah. Sucky.
evile: *hugs* Thanks for telling me that, though :)
Hoovooloo: I put back on the 40 pounds I lost to weight watchers last
year. I'm feeling defensive too.
Hoovooloo: I hit that OMG number (for me it's 300 pounds) again about
two months ago.
evile: *hugs* It's tough, isn't it?
evile: I think you're adorable & huggable & sexy, no matter what :)
Hoovooloo: Between night classes and my complete lack of job security
and the destruction of my savings thanks to the continual down of the
stock market... I EAT.
evile: I hear ya.
Hoovooloo: I'm really close to telling my wife that we can live in a
trailer somewhere and I'll move furniture and just STOP WORRYING.
evile: Yeah...worrying is usually a waste of energy.
Hoovooloo: I'm using up all my free energy on these classes. Before
the fall semester I was back in pretty good shape.
Hoovooloo: I went to the Gym three times a week for ten weeks over
last summer. 24 minutes of stair master + 5,000 meters rowing + three
sets on 8 weight machines.
evile: It's hard to find energy for everything you want & need to do
sometimes.
evile: wow...that's a lot of work!
evile: I saw pictures of you driving with Kahlua & them--that looked
fun.
Hoovooloo: Yeah, I felt pretty good about it. Didn't lose any weight,
but I got up to machine bench-pressing 240. A personal best.
evile: WOW! That is very awesome ;)
Hoovooloo: I bought a rowing machine in January. I've been aiming for
3 x 5000 meters each week, but usually missing one session.
Hoovooloo: I'm weak at the moment.
Hoovooloo: Kahlua and Bigheart were both bench pressing 200+, and
they're half my size.
Hoovooloo: Couldn't let them get too far ahead.
evile: I bet you could still pick me up :) That's a win-win--make you
feel strong & make me feel petite :)
Hoovooloo: Jessie is doing the Couch-to-5k program now.
evile: wow! Good luck...
Hoovooloo: I've carried bigger women than you around, a LOT bigger.
evile: heh. ;P
Hoovooloo: Back when Skeeve lived on this coast I used to throw him
over one shoulder in a Firemans Carry as a way of saying hello.
evile: As long as you can carry a woman to your bed, I think
everything else is just icing on the cake :)
evile: (I wouldn't hoist Skeeve to my bed....just a personal
preference, I'm sure he's a lovely person & all)
Hoovooloo: He was always a little ... Skeevey.
evile: ooo, BAD! :P
Hoovooloo: Still and all, I'm feeling like a lump right now, and this
particularly unflattering picture from this April really got to me :

Hoovooloo: I look like Jabba the Hoo. Those jeans really aren't
helping, either.
Hoovooloo: My mental image of myself was a little out of sync. I
thought I was the guy on the left in the black jeans and white t-
shirt.
evile: Isn't that a strange feeling? Honey, honestly, you aren't too
far off that.
Hoovooloo: Here's the rest of those pictures. That was a neat car
show : http://gala.freeshell.org/gallery/Hershey04
Hoovooloo: I'm about 10 pounds lighter now than then. Back on Weight
Watchers for me.
evile: That has worked for a lot of people. My friend onyxlynxx
is on that. She is looking _great_.
evile: I _still_ think you're adorable & sexy. I totally wouldn't
kick you out of bed (cept youre married & I've got McAnnick & whatnot-
type complications)
Hoovooloo: WW got me down to 260 and change a couple of years ago.
Kept the weight off for more than a year too.
Hoovooloo: You're sweet. I still think you're all that and a bag of
chips too.
evile: ;) thanks!
Hoovooloo: With the same caveats of course.
Hoovooloo: Some women are just sexy. That's not going to change
unless you turn into someone else.
evile: Yeah...a great deal of attractiveness is just how you carry
yourself, your personality, and the way you treat other people.
Hoovooloo: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
Hoovooloo: This is what Jess is doing. She's on week 6 and going
strong.
Hoovooloo: I went out with her on Tuesday and did two miles.
evile: awesome!
Hoovooloo: Back when Jess and I started dating I was running 10k,
three times a week.
evile: Holy cow...that's a lot!
Hoovooloo: Not at a really fast pace though, about a 9-minute mile.
Hoovooloo: Yeah, it took me six months to work up to that.
Hoovooloo: Then there was sex, and the running lost appeal.
evile: No, really?!? :P
evile: Sweetie & I pretty much did that too. Settled down & got fat &
happy together :)
Hoovooloo: I think I did the Weight Watchers program mostly to snub
the snarkyness of the other Boston TIMsters, especially the women.
evile: Like any of those beeyotches have a right to talk!!!
evile: Meow meow. Sorry!
Hoovooloo: Saw all of those people for Lorac's wedding two weeks ago.
evile: Oh, wow. Was it fun?
Hoovooloo: Several of them have done Weight Watchers as well now, and
they're still very large women.
Hoovooloo: Yeah, it was a good wedding.
evile: I'm glad the wedding was nice :)
Hoovooloo: It was in a municipal courtyard, in front of a rather
imposing federal/greek style public building.
evile: Lorac's a sweetie.
Hoovooloo: She is. They've been holding house concerts, which are
very cool.
evile: good party afterwards?
Hoovooloo: Yes, both the reception and the after-party were good.
evile: awesome. That's the only reason I'd ever bother with getting
married :)
Hoovooloo: The wedding was made slightly odd by hecklers. One of the
buildings that could see the courtyard holds the county jail - above
the 14th floor.
evile: OMG!! That will probably be funny someday, but wasn't at the
time.
Hoovooloo: Carrie and William had giggle-fits over it at the time. It
didn't bother anyone.
Hoovooloo: Well, a couple of the men went to sort out the hecklers,
but came back when it was discovered they were in jail.
evile: *laff* that is too funny.
Hoovooloo: After the reception all the trendy TIMsters headed over to
a bar in Central Square. Since it was an afternoon wedding, the 20-
odd of us had the front room to ourselves.
evile: awesome!
Hoovooloo: I have to admit, an un-crowded, non-smokey, open-windowed
bar full of people you know was a new experience.
Hoovooloo: We were there from about 6-10, and left when the band was
setting up.
evile: sounds perfect!
Hoovooloo: Hey, do I know your friend J who is an attorney in San
Francisco?
evile: Practically Biblically, from what I understand ;P
evile: J-Law/ Rhiannon on TIM
Hoovooloo: I thought so! How's she doing?
Hoovooloo: As if she's ever been back to TIM.
evile: She's great. I don't think she has time for TIM these days.
Just had a big case settle that she was working 16 hour days on.
Lives in a cool apartment, has a cute dog named Pepper, dates
interesting guys...
evile: She and I are going to Vegas for Xmas this year. :)
Hoovooloo: I liked her. If she had gone for her second choice school
in New Jersey I would have pursued her.
Hoovooloo: Sounds like she's happy in San Francisco though.
evile: yeah. I'm glad everything worked out with school & all. SF is
a great town. She pays more in rent than our mortgage, though :(
Hoovooloo: Oh man, Christine/Gator barging in on us at that party and
then telling the world...
evile: heh!
evile: Gotta love the drama.
Hoovooloo: Gator had a thing for me. A couple of years later she made
sure I couldn't politely pretend I didn't know.
evile: People are so crazy. I don't think I'll ever figure 'em out...
Hoovooloo: That was the 15mph party. I was only in Chicago for 30
hours, and spent a great deal of it driving. My average speed for the
weekend was 15.
evile: heh.
Hoovooloo: Now that I think about it, J-Law was my only party hookup
ever.
evile: That'll learn ya!
evile: My best party hookup ever was at DePauw when I went home with
this frat boy--he had a PIG in his apartment. Way to ruin the mood....
