Tomorrow is the Safe Place Walk!

I had a dream last night that a person I know to be an abuser came up to me and put their arms around me and we walked side-by-side through a field toward a school I knew. The person told me their real thoughts and feelings and at the end of them sharing their real self, they said something about having missed me and asked how I was doing. I talked about my life now, and I said I am wonderfully in love and happy, and shared with them something I just realized, or just discovered, as I was saying it in the dream: "Love doesn't hurt" I said. The person started weeping uncontrollably. I realized I'd finally reached their heart, that we finally understood each other and could heal.

It was a good dream.

Anyway, I'm walking tomorrow. It seems so simple and obvious, but Love really doesn't hurt. I don't care how many songs you've heard or books you've read that say it does. Hurting yourself or others is not Love, even if someone else calls it that.

Love heals.

Love nurtures.

Love cares.

Love gives.

Love is good.

God is Love.

We are God when we Love.

Love Doesn't Hurt.

Waterloo Park
Walk Your Talk!

SafePlace exists to end sexual and domestic violence through Safety, Healing, Prevention and Social Change. And when we talk about the ways we can help stop this interpersonal violence in our community, these are four very powerful concepts.

It takes a community to spread the word and stop violence against women, children and men. By joining us to Walk Your Talk, you join us in ending rape, sexual assault and domestic violence.

You raise money to help survivors find Safety so they can begin Healing. You raise money that allows Prevention programs to continue in the community and in our schools. And you raise the awareness needed to create Social Change.

We envision a community free of rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence.

But we cannot do it alone.

Talk about Safety.

Talk about Healing.

Talk about Prevention.

Talk about Social Change.

We ask that you join us and

Walk Your Talk on April 12, 2008!
Why You should Walk with us... 84% percent of all Texans report they believe they can personally do something about domestic violence. Be one of those 84% and support the
