I'm sending you [dad]'s thoughts on the breakup. I agree 100%. Especially about Brother A's tendency to take advantage when people offer him help.
It's too bad that this has upset my mom so much. Aunt L and I are relieved and DONE. I guess we don't have as much emotional investment in the idea of Brother A having kids, or whatever.
I'm still not sure if I'll return The Rubber Pig's call. I mean...Brother A is done. Therefore, I'm done. This woman is a stranger that I don't care about and I don't even have to make nice to anymore. So...why do I care if she's upset? But I do like a little drama when it's something that I have no emotional investment in. So, I may call her. But with some kind of plan in place so that I don't have to stay on the phone any longer than I want to. =====
J-Law:
I do feel bad for Brother A, and definitely for your mom - sounds like she's taking it pretty hard. But it is certainly better that things broke off now rather than later, when he had kids with her, or whatever else. Hopefully, in time, your mom will realize that Brother A is better off on his own for the time being, and will find someone more suited for him in the future, when he is ready for this kind of relationship.
[dad] is right - spiriting Brother A out of Austin to parts undetermined is not a good idea. If I may be candid, he has spent much of his young adulthood running from his problems and getting bailed out. He made a bad decision, and he needs to stick around and face the music, and hopefully, build himself a life and home. It won't be easy, but it might be the making of him.
I can't see him being a cop at all. Reminds me of how Kenna arm- twisted Ken into joining the army so he could support her. ========= me to J-Law:
Looks like it's going to rain here. There is an outdoor bellydance & fire show on Saturday night, which I want to go to assuming the rain doesn't cancel it.
And Sunday's a picnic & tubing thing in San Marcos but it looks like the park service is issuing advisories about the excessive rain making all the creeks, rivers, etc. too dangerous to swim or tube :( I'm doing my best to see if the picnic part is still on, but can't get anyone to write back to me. Oh well.
I will definitely be mentioning the 'no bail out' tough love thing to Aunt L & Uncle B next time I see them. Nobody in this family is in a position to be able to afford to take care of Brother A, and he's an able- bodied man, he needs to take care of himself now. *sigh* It's just hard not to think of him as a kid/lil bro all of that protective instinct stuff...
I had forgotten all about the Kenna/Ken army thing. I'm so glad Brother A has a bit more self-esteem than Ken did!
