Covid again
about midweek last week I was feeling pretty shitty; I thought it was just allergies but by Friday I felt bad enough to take a covid test and viola, yep, I had it. starts with congestion, cough, sneeze (allergy feelings) sore throat, nausea [Thax actually threw up but I just felt sick to my stomach] then body aches and congestion so bad that you feel like you're drowning every time you try to lay down [comparable to the amount of congestion and phlegm I get from cedar fever sometimes] Lost my sense of smell over the weekend but it came back after maybe a day or two (?) last time I had it, I had no sense of smell for a week or maybe longer.
This will be my second time at this particular goat rodeo. Despite 5 shots. Anyway, I spent Friday thru Sunday feeling like absolute crap and now I'm pretty much 100% again. Still coughing but no congestion, at this point I am probably just coughing because my throat is irritated from all the coughing I did over the last week.
Thax got it from me, apparently, started feeling bad Sunday and he's been home from work all week. We are managing symptoms with over the counter stuff--mucinex, dayquil, nyquil, etc.
The nice thing about working remotely is that I haven't lost any time from work due to this
My contract ends tomorrow and I'll take a week or two off to get caught up on house stuff, get my car serviced & annual inspection done, then looking for work again. usually I plan a vacation or trip between assignments but Thax's job is still new enough that he has no time accrued* so I won't be doing that this time.
I found a fantastic cruise (well two) that are tempting me terribly. Both repositioning transatlantic - the first leaves from NYC, goes to Iceland, Ireland, Paris, and London, then 6 days later the second leaves London and goes back to NYC, no stops. That would have me travelling from April 24 to May 16....I almost got my cousin Weez onboard for the NYC to London but her husband a) didn't want to go and b) didn't want her to go without him, on the worry that the trip is just 'too long'.. Weez is really excited to see the Northern Lights this year because apparently they're going to be spectacular due to various atmospheric and solar conditions. She was trying to get me onboard with a non cruise trip to the arctic circle. Not fucking likely, I hate cold. But I do like cruising and have never been to any of those places so it would have been nice. $699 per person for the first cruise and $1200 for the one on the way back. Norwegian something-or-another and then Cunard, Queen Mary or smething? Any hoo, sigh sigh. My life has always seemed to be 'time and no money' or 'money and no time' and now that I have a bit of both I got nobody to do stuff with. :/ I mean, of course I should hang on to my money since I don't know how soon "ll be re employed but ever since I quit that horrible state job things have just fallen smoothly into place and I've not run out of money before the next good job came along. So I trust the Universe. Just wanna go travel, have something to look forward to. Since the pandemic I haven't really planned much for any sort of future and then there's this pesky election coming up in Nov that may end our country forever....so I'm kinda between 'last hurrah' and 'squirrel everything away and try to survive'... neither feels particularly better than the other. And last hurrah is lots more fun.

*turns out Thax did have 40 hours worth of leave time accrued since his start date, which covered him being out for a week due to Covid. The Stepdad's family luck strikes again. :) Breaking even rather than going in the hole, I'll take it.
